Help with a fun project!
My best friend and his partner just adopted a kitten! 10 mos old, male, and just about the cutest darn kitten ever (from the pictures they sent). Anyway, I want to send them a "welcome kitty" basket, and could use some ideas. I've only had old cats, so all you kitten owners, what would you want to have for a newbie?

Yea kittens!

1. I think there is a product called a "Cat Dancer" It is a fishing pole w/
feathers on the end. My cats love it.

2. I think you're thinking of "Da Bird"

The Cat Dancer is a wire with tiny rolls of card paper on the end. You can stick it to the wall and kitty can play by himself. My cats are also obsessed with "da bird"!

I would also include:

A litter scoop

2 shallow ceramic bowls (cats don't like it when their whiskers touch the edges of the bowl, so shallow bowls work best).

a bag of cat nip

assorted small toys

a "boogie mat" (mat to put the catnip in).

A small polar fleece blanket (my kittens had to sleep wrapped in one on cold nights).

A bag of high quality cat treats, like Organix, liv-a-littles, or venison jerky.

a clicker for clicker training, plus a link to the clicker training web site: www.clickertraining.com

a small bottle of Nature's Miracle

some Feliway to help the kitten adjust to his new home

A list of helpful cat related websites, plus some fun ones (catster, mycathatesyou, etc.)

some samples of holistic foods (health food store or specialty pet shop).

A basic first aid kit.

Hope that helps!

3. I hadn't thought of the Nature's Miracle.
I love that stuff. It has seriously saved my carpet more than once! I'm on a bit of a budget, so I think that I'll also do the fleece blanket, and embroider a kitty design and his name on it, to make it special! I thought I'd also give them my toy bible. It's a book of all the fun stuff you can make, not buy, out of recycled stuff for your kitty! I'm pretty sure they have all the bowls and scoops, etc., so I might get a few fun toys instead. I also thought about good treats. This is so exciting! I love new kittens, even when they aren't mine! :)

4. cats are like kids, you buy them a toy and they play with the BOX!
seriously, I have bought few toys for my guys because they like paper bags better. And the drapes, and the cable receiver (it's warm) etc.

Who DOESN'T LOVE KIT-TENS (glottal stop) ???
