CECIL + BETTY
He loved her dearly, deeply He adored her with his eyes When they drew breath they breathed as one He would not leave her side.
He was small but he was plucky And he counted himself so lucky For the miracle of meeting the love of his life And when she sighed her last at the quiet end She left behind her very best friend Who loved her still and with no less passion But, for all his grief he could not cry.
How brave do you have to be to go on After you’ve lost all you’ve ever known? How much harder must your broken heart throb When the ache cuts so close to the bone.
He thought he would never hear her voice again But then one day, he did And he felt a perfect sunbeam warm him With joy as she urged him to eat and drink once more He thought, “I don’t care if I ever eat or drink again, my love, Having you is all I ever wanted.” And as soon as he thought it she swept him up into her arms His purr of bliss ignited a burst of whitest shine In the perfect reflection of her smile so bright That he had to close his eyes.
Soft cheek to silky fur The rest together Happy forevermore.
