Hey, look what followed me home!!!
I live in a rural area and when I went to take my garbage can out to the street for pickup, I heard meowing coming from the field next to me. I think the neighbors have moved out or may be on vacation, and left some barn cats without provisions.

I took two kittens to the vet this a.m. She is going to put one in her adoption program, and I decided that since there was a black/white kitten, it would fit in well with my 3 black/white cats. I was going to name it Quatro, but that didn't seem proper for such a sweet little girl, so I named her Mildred after my dear sweet aunt. She is screened off from the other cats, but they can see and smell each other, and I hope for a happy integration into my little pride of kitties.

8. She's beautiful!
She looks like my Domino; I lost her last year, but she'll be waiting at the Rainbow Bridge. Thanks for taking care of this little cutie.

9. Ohhhhh. I had a B/W kitty named Domino (we nicknamed
her Noodle). She died in 1997, and was one of the sweetest, most precious cats I've ever known. I still hear her purr sometimes, just above my shoulder near my right ear. I know my Domino is waiting for me, too.

Just her expression shows that she will socialize easily and has bonded with you. Good luck with your new pretty baby!

12. Poor little Mildred was raised in a barn and didn't know about litter boxes.
She peed and pooped on the bed twice, and I had a lot of laundry to do. Then, a brilliant friend of mine suggested that I put dirt in her litter box and shut her up in the bathroom for the night. It worked! This morning, there were 2 numbers in the litter box. I think I'll put her in the bathroom again tonight, just for reinforcement, but I think she figured it out! Smart little baboo. She's not afraid of the big cats or the dog, and I think I can let out of solitary by Saturday. The senior cat (Tiny at 16 yrs.) hissed at her big time, but big ole' Oscar just sits and watches her. Oscar lived in the animal shelter for a year before I adopted him, and he took on the job of socializing and washing the kittens. Lady, the dog, now knows she's supposed to protect Mildred. Good dog.

15. What a colorful family.
We just adopted a 3-4 year old boy and a 5 year old girl from the shelter on Saturday. He had been in there for a whole year and he is gorgeous and soooo smart. She had been there since November. I'll post photos soon, but your Oscar sounds like one of my dearly departed foster dads. It's the coolest when the animals all get along and watch out for each other. Mildred will probably never make that kind of mistake again now that she's figured it out.

13. Japple, you are a true angel
This very pretty little girl is very lucky to have you for her new "mommy". I wish both Mildred (will it be "Milly" for short?) and you many happy years together.

17. I love tuxedo kitties
and miss having one around. My old lady cat is a tortie Main Coon and 15 years old. She's going to be the last one until and unless I get settled someplace.

18. She looks like a Mildred!
Very demure and self-contained. Sorry to hear about the messes she made, but it sounds like she caught on pretty quick about the litterbox. She must know she's into a good thing since so many other animals are around who are obviously happy to be living there. :)
