Do cross-eyed cats have trouble seeing?
I know that Siamese are naturally a little cross-eyed, but there's a cat in the neighborhood who isn't Siamese, but cross-eyed. He's just a domestic American Shorthair and looks like any other cats until he looks up at you. He's adorable, of course, but I wonder if his vision suffers because of it. Does anybody know?

1. The Bear does not suffer.
Being a cross-eyed cat has never slowed the Bear in his passion for hunting Musca domestica. Seems he can't miss catching them in mid air. I have often wondered myself if his sight suffered any from being cross-eyed however he seems to be fine in that department.

Most articles that i have read about Strabismus (Cross-Eyed) condiction in cats says that
"it is an inherited condition, no treatment is recommended as the abnormality is generally a cosmetic problem which does not affect the quality of life. If it is inherited, the breeding of affected individuals is not recommended."

2. You had to know I would reply, what with my signature line
I know little about this as I got Pad Thai because he needed a home, not that I had researched Siamese cats, however, I have noticed that he always sees very well out the windows to see birds and me when I'm coming home from work. He also rarely misses a toss of the sparkley ball or a twist from the feather teaser.

However, I've noticed that sometimes he moves his head rapidly from one side to another - could this be a relex to correct? I don't know.

3. Thanks, guys. I'm relieved.
You'd think I had more important things to worry about than a cross-eyed kitty, but that's the kind of thing that bothers me when I try to sleep at night.
