Sam, a little 1 yr old, 30 lb, puppyish, high energy, corgi/beagle boy that I rescued in the nick of time, in November, then worked on with a trainer to get his energy and manners in shape is being RETURNED, because the adopters just didn't keep up with the training....and now he's going nuts because they crate him all day, and he's learned to jump their 4' fence, and they can't let him play in the yard with their other dog.
Grr......I set them up with training sessions, and the trainer went back recently and said that they apparently just didn't do the work. He responded beautifully to training, and just needed exercise and leadership - and he would be a great dog.
We're going to have to put him in our partner doggie daycare facility because I have another foster to take care of. If DU'ers in the Mid-Atlantic (DC area in particular) know of a good home, please direct them to his listing - He'll come with the complete training plan. He needs a home with:
- A yard with a 6' fence (he can jump a 4' one)
- A detached home (he's developed anxiety from being in the crate, but the trainer thinks that he can managed)
- Someone that will have the time and love to exercise him properly and work on his manners, and not simply shower him with affection.
- If there's another dog - that dog will need to like playing alot with Sam. He's dominant, but responds quickly to verbal correction if he starts grabbing the other pooch's collar.
