I have several for my Golden Retriever. His name is Sheridan, but I also call him:

Boo Boo
Mr. Dog
Pooh Bear
Sher
Sweet Boy

Sheridan is 9 years old, but still acts like a puppy. I admit it...he's my baby. B-)

9. Thank you for the compliment
Edited on Sun Feb-27-05 11:51 PM by Greylyn58
He's my best buddy and the first Golden I've ever had. His father (Simba) and grandfather (Striker) are both champion show dogs.

His grandfather won Best in Breed at the 1996 Westminster Dog Show and went on to represent the bred in the Sport Group Ring.

Buddy: a.k.a. Buddy Boy (White Lab mix)

Paco: a.k.a. Pacacita (She's a female black Lab mix with a male name, thanks to our daughter who brought her home in the first place.)

4. Clark is often called Slick because he is so black and shiny
CatZilla is called Zill, zilly, and fluffball

Lewis is called Goor, which is short for gorgeous and my daughter has a goor song she sings to him, which I do not know. Of course he gets called WideLoad, LardAss, Lard butt, whale

Thomas is mr T, Tommy sixtoes, T Tommy, Ole Blue Eyes,

collectively they have become "the boys"

I sing the belly mojo song to them, the words change according to what they are doing.

kitty cat belly mojo,
playing in the hall
kitty cat belly mojo,
bat the little ball
kitty cat belly mojo,
sliding down the wall

or whatever strikes my mood.

belly mojo is when they roll over on their backs and just double dare you NOT to stop and pet them. Zilla can be hypnotized by a belly rub

Bor-boy
Borilla (his face looks like a gorilla's)
Borilla-boy
Bora the Explora (he loves to snoop around)

I do have a little song for Boris but it's so lame and juvenile that a 3 year old could have written it, so I won't be sharing it here ;-) .

17. Punchkie
That's a Polish Jelly doughnut.

We had a Polish immigrant family on our block - with a house full of cats and dogs -- all called Punchkie. It was her term of endearment.

19. Here's Our Gang...

This is Crystal. She's a pointer but she thinks she's a portugese water dog. I call her polka-dottie for obvious reasons.

This is Porkchop. I call her Pokemon and she seems to love it. I also call her for dinner (thank you, thank you, I'll be performing all week in the lounge...)

This is Asta. She's named after the dog in the Thin Man movies. We call her the Swedish Meatball or Asshole. The neighbors look at us funny but it fits her personality.

This is Petey. We call him Sweety Petey or Petey Pooh and sometimes Pikachu. He's a great lover (well, mostly a great kisser).

This is Tillie. She's a monster. We call her some very bad things that I can't put on the list. But we also call her the purple dog because she's a blue heeler with "creeping tan" or red. And red and blue makes purple...

This is Teddy the foster dog. He has no manners so we've mostly been calling him "you little bastard" but he answers to Teddy Bear as well.

As far as poems, I use is to the tune of The Coconut Song by Harry Nilson (you know, I put the lime in the coconut and drink it all up...)

I put the dogs in the kennel and I lock 'em all up
I put the dogs in the kennel and I lock 'em all up
I put the dogs in the kennel and I lock 'em all up
I put the dogs in the kennel and I lock 'em all up

Petey likes a Joe Cocker tune that I've butchered:

YOU ARE SO BLUE-TI-FULLLLL TO MEEEEE
CAN'T YOU SEEEE
YOU'RE EVERY DOG I DREAM OF
YOU'RE EVERY DOG I NEEEEED
YOU ARE SO BLUE-TI-FULLLLL TO MEEEEEEEEEE

Hope that clears things up for you.
