"Frodie" is a loving Blue and Gold Macaw who whispers!

I brought my baby bundle of feathers home when she was 13 weeks old. I met her when she was 11 weeks old and visited her everyday at "The Bird House". I was reluctant to bring her home while she was eating parrot formula from a feeding syringe ~ but we survived the head shakes of my baby bird that sent formula which was just the right temperature {I bought a digital cooking thermometer - nothing like going a little nuts being a first time mommy}. Her first drink of water was off of my finger tips as we bonded.

I believe "I'm in a love affair that will last for all of the rest of my days". Frodo's wings are clipped but I still put a harness and a leash on her when we go out for walks. She travels with me on vacations and I've had the chance to tell everyone "Birds are high maintenance pets ~ if you want a healthy, well adjusted companion ~ a bird needs daily interaction. They are like a 3 year old child ~ forever." The love and trust that Frodie returns to me is worth all of my "special food" shopping trips and the frighting times when she hurts herself while playing or flying because something startles her.
