Rescue with Lymphoma

Just got a confirmation today that one of the rescue kitties my group recently took in has lymphoma. We had a good idea that was what we were dealing with, but you always harbor hope for a better diagnosis!

It's already pretty advanced, so the vet is advising some steroid therapy for as long as that works, then we'll need to let him go peacefully. This guy is a real sweetie and this just sucks for him.

There are, obviously, more intrusive types of chemotherapies, etc., but they aren't warranted in this particular situation since things are already so grim.

Anyway, just wanted to commiserate. Sometimes we simply have to be happy with what we CAN do, instead of dwelling on what we CANNOT do. But that doesn't make it easy, does it?

Also, I give my cats and dogs curcumin (Turmeric) mixed into their food which is also supposed to be very good as both preventative and treatment of cancers, etc.

Fellow Duer HollyHobby shared here and in another forum, that she used turmeric instead of traditional treatment to prevent the spread of tumors in her collie (who was given a very short time to live).
She gave the dog turmeric everyday and he lived another SIX years, to the ripe old age of 13. Holly also shared this great site that

2. I'm so sorry to hear this..

I definitely commiserate with you, as I recently discovered a lump on the back of my 16 year old "kitten." I just took her in yesterday, and I'm waiting for the blood tests and biopsy of the lump to let me know whether she has a fibrosarcoma. This is not a good time for me anyway, as you know that I just had to put my guy, Sylvester, to sleep last Friday. When it rains, it really does pour. All you can do is make the rest of his days as peaceful and full of love as you can.

It always happens that way, right?

I am sending good thoughts to your "kitten" and hoping that you receive positive news. We had one other cat back about a year ago who had a vaccine-induced tumor. The needle aspirate showed some suspicious cells, but was inconclusive. So they did a full biopsy. We lucked out and his nodule was benign, so don't give up hope!

It will be my privilege to spoil our current guy rotten for as long as we have him. I feel that they come to us for a reason even if we don't understand fully what they are here to do for us.
