The rescue I volunteer with is working with this girl, and her foster will be unable to keep her beyond this weekend. We are trying desperately to find an experienced foster or adopter with no other pets. She will deteriorate in boarding after all the progress she's made. She's currently in the Washington DC area.
I'm hoping someone here will know of some resource or idea on where to turn next.
Here are the details on her:
Tillah was born on the streets of Afghanistan -- where they don't keep
dogs as pets. She was found by a World Bank employee who took her in
and raised her. Unfortunately, she not well socialized. She could not
be walked because local Afghans would throw sticks and rocks at her
and they would spit on her owner. The local children threw things at
her in her backyard. The male vet that spayed her chained her to a
tree after her surgery and the men that cared for her in her owner's
absence beat her.
Tillah is now in foster care but she needs to move to a new foster
home ASAP – time is limited due to unavoidable circumstances. Though
Tillah is making INCREDIBLE progress with other dogs, she is still dog
aggressive and needs to be in a home with no other animals. She would
do better in a house than an apartment both because of proximity to
other dogs and because she barks. She needs an alpha person to set
limits with her. Tillah is about 5 years old and around 55 lbs. and is
housebroken and leash trained.
Just like many of the soldiers coming back from Afghanistan, Tillah is
suffering from post traumatic stress disorder from the violence and
abuse she was exposed to in Kabul. We desperately need help to get her
the treatments she needs.
