I want one, and we dont' have any in Hawaii as far as I'm able to tell.

I would love to hear your stories about Redbones and what they are like to live with. I'm really liking them.

Our dearly loved Mollydog died about six months ago at 13 years old, and I'm close to ready for another doggie.

Mahalo~

5. Petfinder is a great site. I got my Wheaten there when I was finally ready after my first one died.

2. I had one as a child
His name was Jake, and he was the coolest dog. If you were singing, he would howl along. Once my mom had some folks over from choir to practice some special thing they were doing, and they couldn't get anything done because every time they started to sing Jake would plant himself in the middle of the room and howl along. They were all laughing so hard they couldn't practice.

Redbones are the best dogs, but we found with Jake that he had never met a stranger. We lived in a very small town, and there were no leash laws at the time (everyone lived on > 2 acre lots, etc), so Jake would jump into anyone's car and hang out with them. In fact the dog catcher would bring him home to us on numerous occasions because he had hopped in the truck with him.

I miss that dog.

6. but that's a commercial site making money off ads - AKC gives one rescue group
they just have "rescue" thrown in to get seach hits

AKC does list one rescue contact in California.
breed info and referral - http://www.akc.org/breeds/redbone_coonhound/ (not an official AKC breed yet)
breed rescue - http://www.akc.org/breeds/rescue.cfm#430

Petfinder search picks them up all over and found one group in Maine
