Yesterday I met a schipperke for the first time.
What a beautiful and well behaved dog. Now I want one. They are too expensive to get from a breeder so I won't be able to have one but they are so adorable.

This isn't the dog but a pic of a schipperke for those who don't know what they look like.

1. I have seen them in Animal Shelters though and Humane Societies. Perhaps the reason
is that they can also be a handful with yapping and have heard of one jumping high up and biting a cat's tongue off. Strange but true. Every breed is a good breed though and it is most often bad "owners". LOL! I suggest going to petfinder.com and type in to find one nearest you or check out schipperke rescues. Good luck! I think they are a nice sized dog.

7. We drove from MN to Missouri for our Wheaten. Did you check with rescue groups?

10. As I stated in other posts
yes, I did. And I am not willing, not can I afford to, drive that far for it. I am really just noodling around, I probably can't afford it's care, either.

Thanx! :hi:

OMG - a real heartbreaker in the available dogs. A lady who is dying of cancer trying to find a home for her boy. He looks like a sweetheart.

5. I searched all the surrounding
states on that site earlier. Nothing there. I'm just dreaming really. I don't have the money to travel for one or to buy from a reputable breeder so don't anticipate I'll be able to get one. Thanx! :hi:

6. Rescue Rescue Rescue. Give a home to one that has no home.
Never mind ... "breeder".
There are thousands, millions of animals who need homes. You can find one that looks almost exactly like that one.
He needs you.
The 'breeder' does not need you.

8. Many breeders are small puppy mills. Not all but many. I agree. Rescue.

12. Then be patient and wait it out. A dog will show up for you. Someday.

11. Years ago my neighbors had one.
I remember him as being yappy and hyper. But then, the humans were, too.

13. Someone I know has one, and he described
it as a "root beer barrel with legs".
