A True Cat Lover Until the End
There was the saddest story in our local paper today. An older woman named Cynthia Long of Putney, Vermont, stopped her car on the Interstate to rescue a cat trapped in the snow-covered median. She was hit by another car and died. What a heartbreaking ending to a compassionate act. I imagine many of us here would have tried to get the cat, too.

1. cat lady
Yes, I'd like to think I'd have done the same. That's just worse than tragic. Although I'm certain there are those who would say she was stupid to have done so in such a situation. I would not be one of those, however.

I've got two cats—Gibbet, a polydactyl, and "my" cat; and my late wife's cat, Ava, a true diva + swooshybutt, named after Ava Gardner. I know I'd do anything within my power to save them.
