my cat needs a "safe" stuffed animal

she is a pixie-bob or tabby mix...with a huge pixie-bob personality.

really, she's more like a dog, in some ways.

She keeps stealing the few stuffed animals I have, even if they are on a top shelf that I don't know how she gets to...
I've had to put them away.

Do you think some of those "dog safe" toys would be ok for her?
She either carries it around like a mother moving her baby and sleeps with it... or...
tries to kill it like in a cat fight and carries is around like she's proud of her kill.

She can even handle something that is half her body size, or more...she's a larger girl, not fat, just strong and big...
When she was a kitten, she would drag my husbands big work boots by their shoe laces. amazing!

I think the plush toys won't hold up with her. I have a dog frisbee for our border collie that is like a hard canvas type material that he hasn't been able to tear up.
I think she needs a "creature" that is made from that hard canvas type material. But I only see those in shapes like dog bones and balls, etc.

She needs something that won't tear up but looks like a critter. Any suggestions? I haven't been able to find anything.

on edit: anybody know what kind of stuffed toys that baby tigers might get in captivity? maybe I should find out.

1. This might be more than you need

but I finally found a stuffed plush toy that my dog can't destroy (so far anyway but it's been several months). She is very protective of this toy, carries it, plays with it even cuddles with it. She is a tremendous chewer who goes through most "super tough!" toys in a few mintues. It's only about 8 (?) inches tall or so. Oh and they're cute, too!

Oh, and my dog is a lot like a cat so if your cat is more like a dog, I'd say it bodes well that she'd like this dragon! lol

2. My cat does that, in a way. He likes the stuffed animals, when I did

have them. But only to destroy them. It may aggravate him that they do not try to run, to escape. He would like that, so he could play with them.
The last ones I had he just ripped open in minutes.
The toy mice he won't touch. He just doesn't believe them, I guess.
So, what to get? I don't know.

3. My cats like stuffed animals,

but mainly to just drag them around the house. One of the cats kept taking a plush dog that was almost as big as the cat and dragging it up the stairs. I kept finding the toy in the upstairs hall. I don't know what the cat had in mind.

4. I've made some catnip toys for my clowder...

Duck and canvas are the most durable fabrics, I've found.

I make two types; a "bat-about" (small enough to toss, throw, and carry easily), and a 'disemboweller" (a toy long enough that they can hold it with their front legs, bite it, and kick it madly with their hind legs all at the same time).
I include a jingley bell (or two, or three) in the manufacture...they seem to like toys with a bell better than without.

I had some wool blend scraps with which I made a bat-about.
It was made in a sort of mouse-shape, with a jingley-bell firmly stitched onto the nose and stuffed with pillow stuffing and catnip.

It was a BIG favorite, but the wool didn't hold up for even a week...that poor thing got chewed to shreds.

The duck and canvas toys hold up well to the chewing and kicking, although I have to replace them every so now and then as the catnip loses its 'oomph'.

I got two sizes at Pet Smart. You can actually make these yourself if you have 100% wool yarn, by forming a ball with it and putting it inside a sock, then running through a hot load in the washer and dryer. They will come out looking kind of like a potato, but cats don't mind how they look. You can also put them into a baggie with some catnip leaves for a few days and my cats REALLY like that.

My cats' favorite toys have always been catnip socks. Socks with a few spoons of catnip in the toe, then tied with a knot in the middle to keep the catnip in place. I had one cat who would chew and lick and bite until he got a hole in it, then he ate the catnip. But most cats just hold onto it with both paws and rub their faces against the toe of the sock.

my other cats, might though...I might see if they like these.

She likes paper bags, bottle corks, cardboard boxes....she's pretty easy to please.
But loves the stuffed animals, but tears them up in 5 minutes.
