Subject: Emergency Help Needed in MD,

(Please Cross post)

As a result of the recent storms The Maryland Department of Agriculture (MDA) and Maryland Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) has been advised of many barn collapses at different locations in the state with resultant trapped and injured animals. MDA has been asked to develop a Statewide list of large animal veterinarians and veterinary technicians that would be available to assist in extracting and treating the animal's injuries. One location we are especially looking for help in currently is in Queen Anne County in the Church Hill area. There may be others as we receive more reports. If you are qualified and available to assist please email

Dr. Jacob Casper at jarucasper@comcast.net with:

Your Name
Degree (veterinarian or technician),
Land line and cell phone number and the best one to use 24/7
Address (postal and e mail),
Times available
Any preferences to areas of the State you would be willing to help in.

3. You might want to contact the folks at Remote Area Medical

(just google "ramusa". They provide emergency assistance for all types of disasters. I know they have people in Haiti right now, but all of their workers are volunteers and they do provide vet assistance and animal rescue. They helped rescue pets after Hurricane Katrina. They're a great organization.
