I usually do not like to use chemicals on or around the animals, however because we live in a rural area, fleas and ticks are more than abundant...they are epidemic. So we use the Frontline and Preventic Collars.
Saturday, we took the new puppy to the vet for the first time (she's three months old now.) I purchased two collars, one for each dog we have. When we got home, hubs looked at the collars and noticed that the boxes both say for dogs over 60 lbs. Neither of our dogs are over 60 lbs. The adult is around 52 lbs. and the puppy is 18.2 pounds (we know this because HE weighed her!)
I called back today and told them that both of the collars are wrong. She asked the vet (I could hear him in the background) and he said to just cut the collar to fit the dog. So I ask if the medicine in it for that large a dog isn't too much for them. I am told no, that the medicine is exactly the same in all the collars, it's just the length of the collar.
I do not want to put this collar on my puppy until I know for sure. Does anyone here know if he is correct?
