How often should you have to groom a Bischon Frise?

I just heard it "needed" to be done every 6 weeks and that seems a little extreme to me for any dog.

1. Define groom

The hair should be done 4-8 weeks.

Nails should be in the 4 week range. Then there is the ear hair.

You as the owner have a say in the type of clipping the dog will receive.
