I fell in love with a ginger tabby at the shelter today
I'm planning to take him home next weekend. He currently is on meds for an upper-respiratory infection, and is scheduled to be neutered later this week. By next weekend, he should be recovered from both of those. One of my kitties crossed the bridge nearly 3 months ago, and my other kitty would benefit from having a companion kitty once again.

I'm told that ginger cats have big personalities. Simon (the name he has at the shelter) is 8 months old, and seems to be a real love-bug. He climbed right onto my shoulder and started purring like a motor boat. My other cat is a 10 years old female, but is still very active and healthy. She still has a kitten spirit. I think she'll enjoy having a little brother to take under her wing.

1. This little kitty chose you. He sounds like a sweet guy. Hope
he and your older cat will develop a long-lasting friendship. It might take some time for her to decide to accept him, but if they both get their share of attention, they will probably work it out. Please post pictures when you get him home.

2. Good luck with your new kitty...
I love ginger tabbies and my next cat will be a ginger tabby. I recently adopted a stray that I've been feeding for the last six months. She is a sweet cat, but got sick with Pancreatitis and has not been acclimating well due to illness. She is doing better now that we are medicating her, but she has a long road to recovery. My other cat is 19 and is still going strong. It's nice to have two cats again after losing 5 cats over the last 7 years. Keep us posted on your new kitty.

6. Congratulations.
I was petting cats at our shelter Saturday because it was too rainy to walk dogs. I thought I had enough cats, but later I discovered I have a mouse in the house for the first time in 11 years. I think I will have to adopt a youngster on Wednesday when the shelter opens.

7. They were able to fix him today instead of Friday
So I get to bring him home a day early. I could have gotten him today, except I have to leave for work shortly. I want to have some time to spend with the fur-kids when I bring him home. So Simon comes home Friday. :)

9. Congrats on your newest adoption.
May Simon (or whoever the two of you decide he is) live long and happily, and take good care of you.

10. Pics of Simon kitty
Just got him home from the shelter, and he's real mellow about everything. My other kitty isn't real happy about the new addition. But I think she'll grow to like him eventually.

11. He looks like he owns the place already.
It's great that he's already sleeping on the bed and not hiding underneath it.

Pretty kitty.

12. He's in the spare bedroom for now
Until he's completely over something he caught at the shelter. I don't want my other kitty to catch anything. Once he's finished his meds, he can have the run of the house. I also hope my other kitty will have accepted her new little brother by then.

a scratch under chin for kitties.

14. Sweet Simon. He looks like a "butter & syrup" cat. That's what
my friend calls tabbies with the swirly markings on each side. Beautiful boy.

15. I brought home a new shelter kitty exactly a month ago.
He's a real sweetie, about 6 months old. When I was at the shelter he latched onto me and wouldn't let go so he was the winner of the day. The old cat, Rosie, isn't terribly impressed. Like you, I thought she would benefit from a new friend after her last companion died, but so far I'm having to protect him from her. Izzy, the new kitty, doesn't have an aggressive bone in his body. I'll have to get some photos taken before he gets much bigger.

16. Fortunately, my older kitty isn't very aggressive
She's expressed her opinion with a bit of hissing and growling. But she's not the type to get physical over something she doesn't like. Right now, she's snubbing me, because I brought the foreign kitty home. But she'll get over it, and it'll all work out eventually.
