Need some suggestions...we had to put down our two borzois a couple of months ago.

Major heartaches, of course, but they had lived long, comfortable lives so it was time to let them go.
A breeder friend has given us another one (Skye) who is a real sweetie, but having a difficult time
adjusting to the new environment. She was basically a kennel/show dog for six years and has never lived as a house dog, so that's part of the problem. Eats well, etc but just doesn't seem to feel secure. Part of the transition is that she lived in a rural area and is now in So Cal. Any ideas on how we can make her feel more comfortable would be appreciated. Have adopted several whippets and zois before and never had this problem.

1. Since you used to have two..do you think a pup "roomate" help her to adapt?.

Also...it seems that she has not been with you for a long time...perhaps, with time and familiarity, she will relax and enjoy her new surroundings.

Do you have a crate that she can use..as a sort of "cave". Some say that helps to make them feel safer.

Put comfy padding there and give her treats while she is inside. You do not have to close the door, just leave it open...and let her come and go as she pleases. Put it somewhere nearby where you usually are...and there is people traffic. Kitchen or living room.

2. I'd give her some time

Our GSD didn't settle in for several months. Each day was better, but by very small increments. Our newest, the Shih-tzu, is adapting quicker, but still hasn't settled in after two weeks.
