If you'll indulge me for a moment. Our new 'Little Girl'
We lost our last little girl over 3 years ago. It crushed me. I cried like a baby for 2 days. We decided to hold off on getting another dog. Finances aren't what they once were and when I tell people how much we spent to try to keep our last girl alive those last several weeks I get strange looks. ("you spent THAT much money on a DOG?")

Anyway. When my SO brought this new little girl over I sat on the ground. She came over, gave me kiss, and curled up in lap. We adopted her. I was hooked in.

She was dumped in a night box at one of the local shelters. Didn't know anything about her. Not even her name. The guess is that she's about 2 years old and is probably a Pom/Cairn mix. Not sure.

Our new little girl. She's like a furry Prozac. She had a few behavior problems but she's been so easy to train. Can't figure why anyone would just dump her.

Thanks for taking a look and saying "hi!" to our new little girl.
:hi:

2. What a beautiful Angel!
"Furry Prozac", I like that! We just got a dog in July, the first one I've had since I was 15, and that is exactly what she is to us.

Your new little girl is a doll, what a face! I am so glad you have each other. Such a gift all the way around. That feeling of touching them and having them look up into your eyes with such love, unbelievable! Congratulations!!!!

4. She's a beautiful little girl!
("you spent THAT much money on a DOG?")

I totally understand. They're part of the family. They're not "like a family member." They *are* a family member.

5. Beautiful!!
I understand spending that much (however much) on your beloved pet! In the past 5 years I've spent a medium sized fortune on my pets! Don't regret a single penny.

I hope you two bring each other unspeakable joy!

6. Oh my gosh, is she ever adorable!
:-). I've always had large dogs (the smallest we've ever had is our current ACD Murphy who weighs 51 lbs), but I can see how having a cute, little sweetie to curl up on your lap would be irresistable.

Welcome to the pet forum little one :-). May you have many, many years of fun and happiness together.

8. Thank you everyone!!
And thanks for all your wonderful comments. Saying "Hi!" to our new little girl.

She entered our lives at a time when we really needed her. (and her needing us) The smiles and laughter she brings us is priceless. And she is very much part of the family.

A friend came over on Thanksgiving Evening. She is a cat person and has never been fond of dogs. She fell in love with her and wanted to take her home. We think she is part dog, part cat, part fox, and part wolf. :D

Again; thank you.
:hi:

13. What a honey-face!
She's just beautiful! If she had no manners (or bad habits) when you got her but is easily trainable, she was probably being neglected. It's so hard to know their back stories when you adopt a dog or cat that is fully grown. Maybe someone had to move where no pets were allowed, or had to take a second job and just didn't have time for her. We adopted an 11 year old kitty after his 90-year-old mom passed away and her caretaker had turned him outside in winter (he was declawed, poor old fellow). He didn't last long, but the 3 year old and 5 year old we adopted 3 years ago are happy and healthier than ever. This new baby of yours will surely heal your heart. Happy, happy holidays to your whole family, including that precious little girl of yours! Thank you for giving her a second chance.

17. I wish I had time to respond to each of you individually
But I don't want to abuse my welcome. :D

Thanks for all the greetings and well wishes. Her name is Kippy, but she'll answer to Kip, Kipster, Kippers, and "what are you doing?".

:hi:
