This is Spaz the guinea pig. He belongs to the store I work for.

1. Just too cute. I love guinea pigs.

I'd love to have one, but I have a Rottweiler who would think it was just a huge play toy that squeaks. She tears up all of her squeak toys.

10. He likes junk food, too.

He'll eat chocolate, hamburger meat, and gummie bears. All of which are bad for him, but he seems to be okay with them in small portions.

Are they friendly pets? Do you have to keep them in cages? I don't know very much about them.

6. They are friendly.

They tend to be skittish of humans, but they will bond with a human if you give it lots of attention. This guy in particular had a biting habit that we broke by lightly tapping his nose when he would bite us. You keep them in cages, but you should let them out for exercise for an hour or so (or more if you have the time) every day. Watch out, they will chew ANYTHING, even wires, but especially paper type materials.

You can teach them tricks; this one comes when you call him, begs, gives kisses by touching noses with you. Only for food though, of course. Guinea Pigs don't produce their own vitamin C so you have to supplement their diet with timothy hay, and vitamin c rich veggies like carrots. Some veggies that are very watery like iceberg lettuce can give them diarrhea.

They are social animals, but some males won't tolerate the introduction of new males after they reach sexual maturity. It is better to raise two or more from infancy if you want more than one. Spaz does fine by himself, but he is around people and dogs all day.

Ummm... thats the most basic stuff. You can get books on them. They are a lot of fun. This guy has lots of personality and attitude. He climbed in that salad tray when I set it down to get his food bowl, and he tried to bite me when I tried to take him out. :rofl:

4. Had one similar, she was light brown white and dark

brown, her name was S'more. RIP. We all cried when she crossed the bridge. Too many pregnancies.
