Which breed is your favorite feline?
Edited on Tue Jul-12-05 09:46 PM by newsguyatl
I'm pretty fascinated with felines... I'm a cat lover of all kinds -- many of you all have the cutest cats around...

But I do have my favorite breeds.

I can narrow it down to three:

Siamese -- chocolate points are my favorites.
I like both the traditional (applehead): and the modern or (wedgehead):

Burmese -- the blue and brown (sable) are both just gorgeous!

Russian Blue -- truly elegant and stunning

one of our own duers, Princess Turandot, has one of the most beautiful cats alive, ivan, who's a russian blue -->

ok, so make it four, i also really love the
chocolate oriental shorthair (basically a brown wedgehead siamese)

so what are some of you guys' favorites?

be sure to post pics!!!!

1. Well, Maine Coons and Turkish Angoras, of course
Edited on Tue Jul-12-05 11:01 PM by Lorien
I also like Russian blues, Somalis, Egypian Maus, Savannahs,Siamese and Pixie bobs. Plain old domestic shorthairs are also pretty great!

I'll post pics when I have more time. For now, here's my MC Oberon:

2. Ragdolls
I lean toward longhair cats. I faithfully groomed my two Himalayans, but my Ragdoll has spoiled me - no matting.

I've never owned one, but I saw some Norwegian Forest Cats at a cat show and they're beautiful.

12. Yes
That's Mocha & Latte. Unfortunately, I lost Mocha (the male) at nine months due to a heart condition. Latte's new companion is Smokie.

7. I agree. Each breed has its own wonderful characteristics
I've had siamese, orange tabby, a maine coon mix but mostly just plain old american shorthaired cats (I am partial to all black)

They are each special in their own way.

If I had a choice next time I would like an abby. But I usually don't have a choice. Whoever needs a home comes to me.

5. Abyssinians and Siamese
I was besotted with Abyssinians when I had a chance to adopt Lily, who is half-Abby. I really think they are among the most beautiful of cats. Here's a cute one from catster:

I've always admired Siamese, especially Lynx points and the paler versions, like my own little lilac point, Pad Thai. Another from catster:

But I'm also very partial to any kind of cute tabby, especially ginger ones. Here's another from catster:

Here's a new kind called a Chausie, I found this picture of this beautiful cat on catster too:

Let's face it - all cats are cute. Any cat will do for me, especially if they're mine.

6. I love Lorien's kitties :)
Seriously though, any long haired breed without a flattened face :).

So Maine Coons, Turkish Angoras, Ragdolls, Norwegian Forest Cats, etc.

Of course I also love my two Quinn (who the vet called a domestic medium hair) and Althea (who is definitely a domestic shorthair).

11. I like Maine Coons the most.
This is Watson:

He has the longest whiskers of any cat I've ever seen. He's gentle and tolerant. Our remaining 6 are not pure breds and I love them too, but in temperament and beauty, Watson is the winner in our house.

DU has so many beautiful kitties.

14. Any one that is
a lap cat. You know the kind that sees a lap and absolutely must be in it to be petted. Right now the funniest lap cat is Ayja, he has to stick out his tongue when you scratch his neck in rhythm with the scratching. I am partial to Siamese, I like that they talk but Ayja has taught all the cats here to talk. They all answer when I ask them,"What?"

23. Thank you and I think
he is too but then I am biased. On his coat, linetone to help slow down shedding and great for his skin, and a shedding blade because he loves it. Actually all the cats love the shedding blade over a brush for some reason.

25. we like DSH tabbies
esp. orange ones (have 3 in the household) ranging from 'dolce de leche' to medium orange, and a big old brown tabby. They all "talk."

BUT we also like Chartreauxs, Russian Blues and Maine Coons.

28. I'm partial to my Bombay, Miss Patty
I just wanted a black short-haired cat, and found her in the shelter. I'd never even seen a Bombay before. She's not pure, but she sure has the personality!

So much for my sending email, eh?

30. Generally, whichever breeds (or breed mixes) have already owned me...
Edited on Sun Jul-17-05 06:16 PM by regnaD kciN
In other words, Turkish Angoras, Balinese (or any other Siamese variant including Tonkinese), Manx, and Maine Coons.

Among cat breeds that have never been a part of our household, I'm particuarly fond of Somalis.

(And I'll probably think of others within a minute after the editing period expires. )
