Anyone ever used tracking collars?

Anyone ever used tracking collars?
I'm a paranoid (appropriately so) husky owner looking at these radio collars they use for hunting dogs. I'm out of the service areas for the GPS jobs, so this looks like a (spendy) possibility.

Basically, it looks like you get a couple of collars and this system and keep the batteries fresh. Then, when they hop the fence in a thunderstorm or what-have-you, you have several miles' worth of time to figure out which way they went.

Anyone ever use 'em?
