2. Just posted here:

She's suffering from a bad case of coccidia, but the vet said that she was sitting up and mewing today-a good sign (yesterday she was just laying-almost still-in my arms. This after having played on her kitten tree only 24 hours earlier)! She's still not out of the woods yet, but she's improving. She'll spend tonight at the vet's too, poor girl.

Thanks so much for all your kind thoughts and wishes!

7. I just came back from visiting her
they said that she had vomited a lot around noon-not a good sign. I spent about an hour with her; she purred, gave me rubs and headbutts, rolled over for a belly rub and kneaded the entire time. She looked much better than she did on Monday, but the vet wasn't terribly optimistic. I'm hoping that the vet is wrong this time around!

8. Hopefully maybe seeing you helped her turn the corner
this happened with a cat of mine who was deathly ill. They couldn't get him to eat after intestinal surgery. I went and got his favorite food and he was starving and ate and ate. Tomorrow when you see her try bringing something she likes to eat.

white light and postive energy. Please let her know that so many of us are rooting for her!!!

Wouldn't some acidophilus help her stomach ???? I would think they should be giving her tons of it...especially if they are givng her anitibiotics.

15. Vets not being terribly optimistic...
About three years ago, Tari came down with liver failure, and the vets at the intensive care clinic basically told us she had no chance. Two days later, they were "amazed" at how well she had recovered, and she went on to live another two years.

16. Hi Lorien . . .
I am checking in early today to see if there is any news on Hecate. Hope you will have good news to report later. I could not stop thinking about her all night.

Your kitties sure have an effect on me. You do a wonderful thing taking in these fosters. Must be so hard when one of them becomes ill.

17. Bad news
the vet just called and she's gotten much worse. They think she might even have Panluc or parvo, they just don't know, but she won't stop vomiting and there's blood in her vomit now. I'm going to go and she her soon. My heart is just breaking.

27. It's Panleukapenia (FP)
the same virus that killed all of Prozacnation's foster kittens. The vet wanted to put Hecate down this afternoon, but the rescue decided that she still has a bit of fight left in her, so they're giving her one more day. If her blood count hasn't improved by tomorrow afternoon they'll put her to sleep. Keep those good thoughts coming; there's still a small shred of hope.

Now I need to watch Nimue and Calliope like a hawk. If they weaken or start throwing up, they could become victims of the FP too. It usually kills kittens in 24 hours. My kittens are fortunate because I work at home and can respond to any changes in their health quickly. Had I not been here around 11am Monday to see Hecate vomiting, she probably wouldn't be here to fight the illness today-so I can take some small comfort in that.

Hang in there, sweet girls!

30. I just read on a website that a kitten over 12 wks. with FP
that survives more than 48 hrs. MAY pull through with lots of loving care, and of course vet attention.

Gosh Lorien, I feel so bad for the kittens. Hope they are okay.

Another important reminder for those of us that have older furkids (indoor babies) to keep vaccines up to date. I struggle wondering if they really need vaccines, then I shiver thinking that my kittens could have brought home something to my two older guyz. We went through some sicknesses in the past two weeks, but nothing like what you and prozac have gone through.

My heart bleeds for you two... 48

31. My 16 year old cat (Miro) is at the vet now
he's had the URI for over a week, and they are worried that he might have the FP too, since I haven't vaccinated him in two years (I was worried that the vaccines might do more harm than good at his age). I just think that the URI is hanging on because his immune system isn't as strong as a younger cat's-I pray that I'm right and that he hasn't caught the Panleuk from Hecate. He didn't come in direct contact with her, but Oberon has, and he snuggles with Miro a lot.

Hecate has survived since Monday morning, so there's always a chance. I cuddled her for about 45 minutes today, and she purred up a storm. Once they found out that it was FP they wouldn't allow me back in the room (out of concern for the other cats). I'm glad that I was able to give her at least some attention today.

Thank you so much for all your kind thoughts, 48%er. :loveya:

32. I am so very sorry!!
I certainly now what pain it is to lose a kitten (or 10) to this disease. I am so sorry and I will keep you both in my thoughts and prayers.

Remember to bleach and clean everything that you can (including walls if possible). As you know the disease is nasty and it can live in your house for like 6 months.

35. I spent the whole evening bleaching
and spraying the areas I can't bleach with disinfectant. Our other kitten foster, Shelly, has lost dozens of kittens to FP this year and she really wants to fight for Hecate. My holistic pet food store- Pookie's bow wow bakery- found a place called Wolf Creek Ranch that formulates alternative treatments for these types of diseases. Pookie's said that a customer of theirs had a puppy that was dying of distemper, and Wolf Creek sent them a recipe for an emergency tea, then followed it with one of their treatments. The customers pup was up and about within hours of drinking the tea, and fully recovered in a day! We ordered all of their treatments two days ago and they arrived tonight. If Hecate is still unresponsive tomorrow, then Shelly will try the tea and Wolf Creek treatment. I'll let you know how it goes. If this stuff IS a magic bullet, then every rescue group should know about it!

Thank you for your kind thoughts and prayers.
