IT'S A BOY!!!!!!
Thought you all might like to see the newest addition to our family....

We adopted him Sunday. He is 5, a real sweetheart, came housebroken and almost fully trained. He has already found his place in the pack and everyday he opens up more to us. The girl at the humane society really bonded well with him and was being really picky about who he would go with. She knew we had husky's previously so we became the proud parents of an 80 pound boy. She had named him Storm since he was apparently thrown off a truck in the middle of a storm in front of the shelter. So, we kept it since we could tell he liked the name. Some of you may remember I lost my 11 year old husky on May 19 due to a rare illness. I was really not wanting another dog. Then Sunday morning I woke up thinking I should check the shelter websites and see if they have any cats or perhaps puppies I might want. I ended up finding Storm an hour and a half away. We are both a little heartbroke but we are finding loving one another to be awesome medicine. I would never have dreamed of adopting an older pet before, it is so worth it. He is truly a gentle giant. I am glad I can now go back to hiking and playing without feeling like there is a huge hole in my heart. I still miss Sheba terribly but Storm is helping me to focus on the good in life rather than the heartache!

Here he is....

4. What a soulful face!
Hope you're both staying cool in all this heat - how do Huskies handle the heat, anyway?

5. What a pretty boy!
We just adopted an adult dog after losing a beloved pet, too, so I know what you are going through.

Adopting an older pet is wonderful. I find that the bonding sometimes takes a little longer. But it is so much easier to deal with an animal that is done with all the puppy insanity. Plus, with two little kids at home, I don't have the time to deal with a furry infant, too.

10. Look at that FACE!!!!!!
What a sweet boy! I'm sure you will be wonderful therapy for each other!

I have a book for you that I'm reading right now since you're into Huskies.

It's called The Cruelest Miles, and it's all about the Diptheria epidemic in Nome, Alaska in 1925, and the dog teams that brought the serum to Nome from Fairbanks and parts beyond. It TOTALLY celebrates these dogs and their wonderful gifts, and the drivers who got the job done.

I highly recommend it for dog lovers and ESPECIALLY husky lovers!
