Great weekend for our rescue

We started with 15 dogs and found homes for 10 of them. Seven of them were puppies but one was a year old sweety that was pretty shy but loves other dogs. He's going to a home that has two other dogs so he'll have someone to bond with.

We also found homes for two cats.

On a different note, but just as good, we are starting our own rescue group. We've been having problems with the other half of the rescue we work with and no one wants to foster for them anymore. So we're starting our own and everyone associated with our half of the group is coming with us. We should be official in a month or two. I'll post our website once we are up and running on an official basis.

BTW, our group will be much more Democratic than the other group, which was run by three women who felt that the world revolved around them. Even our name reflects our attitude, Heaven and Earth Animal Rescue Team. We are truly operating as a team.

We like acronyms and, as the name says, we'll move Heaven and Earth to find homes for the buddies.

...and what is it about animal rescues such that they tend to turn into dictatorships? Our local group could not get anyone to volunteer for them because THE leader was just impossible - now the local Humane Association is doing more fostering than the all-breed rescue group.
