Do any of you use Feline Pine?

Any comments on this litter? Pros, cons? I am thinking of converting my 10-year-old cat to this brand. She's always used the silicone, clay crap. Thanks for the advice in advance. :hi:

I use Cedar Fresh. I like it very much. The cats didn't mind it at all either. (I've always used clumping type litters). What I like most about it is that it has a pleasant cedar smell (and it's relatively inexpensive at Target).

2. I use it

I have a 14 year old and a 10 year old cat. They both do fine with it. I changed them over to it when I adopted the 10 year old cat a few months ago. I love it, it's cheap and there is no litterbox smell. One bag will last 4 weeks for 1 cat.

that's what I thought. But you do have to empty the solid waste more often than with the clay litter, correct? Do you just flush the waste every day or so?

5. cleaning the litter pans

You only have to pick out the solid waste (#2). I use paper towels. The pine litter breaks down into a sawdust when they pee on it. You just shift the box, and that sawdust falls to the bottom, the pine kernels staying on top. I change out the entire litter box once a week, but could probably go 2 weeks if I didn't have a very finicky cat (thanks Sterling). I have a litter box for each cat.

6. My kitty didn't like walking on the pellets. Only time she ever went

outside (beside) the box.

We use Swheat Scoop, all natural, non-toxic and flushable - just in case you need a backup suggestion.

8. Do they track any of the "litter" outside of the box?

I still use clay litter and my cats track tons of it all over the house.

Is this stuff better or worse in that respect?

9. Oh, my Tuna tracks that clay crap everywhere!

It gets in my bed, too. Ick! I heard the pine-type litter is supposed to reduce tracking greatly. I sure hope so. Less tracking is a big reason why I want to switch brands. :)

But the pellets make cleanup a lot easier, IMO.

13. If you decide you like it....

Just go to Home Depot or somewhere similar and look for wood stove pellets. It's the exact same thing as Feline Pine, but far cheaper.

14. I tried it.

I loved it because it smelled so nice, but most of my cats just looked at it, then at me, as though to ask what I, in fact, intended for them to do with it. I hate to admit this, but they tend to be rather ... er... conservative (gasp!!!!) about their choice of litter.

16. I tried it once too.

My kitties also gave the the "what the hell am I supposed to do with this?" look. Only one would use it. I have had luck though with the swheat scoop and also the cedar litter. That one is good and I don't even have to use a litter box deodorizer because the cedar smell lasts.
