Happy pic of N.O. pets...
Edited on Wed Sep-14-05 11:56 AM by fudge stripe cookays
My friend Carol has such an awesome heart. She helps run a dog rescue here in town called Tassie's Hope.

She even took in a kitty although she was allergic; and that is how we got Molly.

Here is a pic she sent me of Tassie's Hope folks airlifting out some babies! This made my day. The plane is completely full of dogs.

3. That picture is wonderful !
I know someone in Austin who is a pet sitter and trainer. In her Sept. newsletter she said that she and other trainers will be offering free telephone assistance for pets who have behavioral issues due to the stress of the hurricane, etc

Her website is

4. I think that's a bus, not a plane :)
Unless they started putting escape panels/air vents in the tops of planes :)

It' still extremely cool :)

5. Unless they've started installing oxygen masks in buses...
it looks like a plane.

6. Those aren't oxygen masks, they're overhead lights and AC vents

that sit above each seat in a chartered bus . . . like so:

Trust me on this one, I ride on chartered buses about 12-15 times a year for day-trips to various New England ski resorts. . . . I know what a bus interior looks like :).

Also, see that really bright light behind the dogs, that's sunlight . . . through largish windows. Planes have small windows.

13. It's not a matter of "winning" :)
It's really not that important, it just looked like a lot of busses I've been in but no plane I've ever been on (granted I don't fly that often) :)

9. Could be a bus; perhaps that's how they got them to the plane
the seats do look like charter bus seats. In either case, it's an awesome photo. They look a little sad (wouldn't you be) but they are dry and in good hands!

11. They ARE, I know.
Anyone that can open up their homes and do fostering and care for these babies (such as our own wonderful Lorien) needs a medal!

We got Fargo from the Texas Great Pyrenees Rescue, and he means so much to me. When I think of him wandering cold and alone through weeds and highways, I cringe!

21. I currently have 4 rescues and a foster
I don't even want to imagine what thier lives were like before. I just wish I could take hundreds more and give them the attention they deserve.

24. Lorien is my hero
For those who don't know, she hasn't been around much because she's been busting her butt getting ready to go bring back some hurricane survivors (the animal kind). She's been working with her local rescue group, cleaning, sorting and storing donations for weeks. She's doing this IN ADDITION to her kitten fostering.

all I've been seeing is the horribly tragic pictures. This is so cool! If you get any more, please post them! We could use some more happy images.

23. I sent it to a bunch of friends too and almost everyone
replied to comment on it. I think everyone is just so burnt-out on the sad images. We need to see them so we can get the funds to rescue them but it does get depressing.

16. Nice! Did the Alpha dogs go first class?
What's the airline (was this a donation)? Or was it Tassie's Hope chartering?

17. I'm not exactly sure!
I assume it was from donations and funds that they saved themselves.

I used to commute by bus until my car got stolen at a park-n-ride last year. Got my car back .

Anyway, great pics!
