Why is Howard Dean sometimes called "HoHo?"
Where does that come from?

1. What are the first 2 letters of Howard? |
I think repeating Ho - Ho Ho isa hip hop thing or something! It's a nickname the kids (supporters) gave him.

2. It's been used pejoratively on DU by a couple of posters |
with the goal of invoking memory of one Ho Chi Minh, who was called Uncle Ho Ho.

4. There was a poster who was confronted |
on the issue via a username......well known for mocking Howard Dean. It had nothing to do with Ho Chi Minh......and it was indeed approached by the moderators.
Thanks Mods.

6. I'm late checking in...... |
My heart goes out to Kos.....I sense they will address the issue more expiditiously......We know there was an issue for a long time.

8. Nothing to do with Ho Chi Minh? If it hadn't, the name would have |
invoked the image of Santa Claus and have been all fun and friendly.

3. some newspaper reporter in VT called Dean that |
and used it as an insult. Ultimately they guy ended up admiring Dean, but he wrote some scathing articles about him during most of his time as governor.

14. Yeah, it was a newspaper nickname for him in VT when he was Gov. |
Originally used by his opponents in Vermont, but was sort of adopted as a term of affection by his supporters.

7. It's invariably used as an insult |
The Kerry staffers used it during the primaries, if I recall correctly.

I sometimes refer to "My HoHo" and it's anything but an insult.

It is often used now in a fond way. I see it often at the blog.

11. A big new york city supporter |
named David, used to have an email account hoho4pres@hotmail.com . That was the first time that I had heard Dean referred to as Ho Ho.
