Any Dean campaign folks remember a Dr. Wm Siroty, NH?
Article here tells that he has not been heard from since a trip to Thailand.

Friends of a popular Nashua physician and political activist who is vacationing in Thailand are concerned because they have yet to hear from him since Sunday's devastating tsunami.

Amherst resident William Siroty, an allergist and internal medicine specialist with Nashua Medical Group, left for Thailand sometime around Dec. 24 along with his friend, Bill Stelling, said Mary Rauh, a former Congressional candidate and Siroty friend.

"I guess what I'm concerned about is no one's heard from them," Rauh said yesterday. Rauh is not alone, as others in New Hampshire ponder the whereabouts of people who could be missing half a world away.

SNIP..."Siroty is also active in New Hampshire politics. He was a Howard Dean delegate to the Democratic National Convention, unsuccessfully ran for the New Hampshire House this year and publishes New Hampshire New Links, an e-mail newsletter that concentrates on New Hampshire politics."

An unlikely bigfoot
Meet Dr. Bill Siroty: Physician, Dean supporter, and New Hampshire’s indispensable media activist
BY DAN KENNEDY

NASHUA, NEW HAMPSHIRE — The doctor sitting across the table from me in the Southern New Hampshire Medical Center cafeteria, sipping iced coffee late on a Friday morning, would not be on anyone’s list of media stars in this state’s first-in-the-nation presidential primary.

William Siroty, a mild-mannered 52-year-old allergist and internist, doesn’t write about politics, analyze poll numbers, or blurt out pithy sound bites on TV talk shows. He speaks so softly that I have to ask him to repeat himself whenever a can goes clunk! in the soda machine behind me.

Yet he has turned himself into an indispensable media activist. How — and why — says much about the way the media operate in 2003. In an age when technology has given us access to everything but made it impossible to keep up, Siroty has emerged as an unlikely gatekeeper, sifting through the news of the day and trying to organize it in a way that makes sense......"

4. Found an update just now. Good news.

"Meanwhile, colleagues have received word from a Nashua physician and political activist, who is safe and thousands of miles from south Asia.

Yesterday morning, co-workers at the Nashua Medical Group received a postcard from Dr. William Siroty, said Sharon Torgerson, a spokesman for the organization.

Siroty was scheduled to visit Thailand with his friend, Bill Stelling, and friends were concerned when they had not heard from the two. Siroty, who lives in Amherst, publishes an e-mail political newsletter — New Hampshire News Links — and is involved in local and state politics.

The postcard, dated yesterday, said the two were in Alaska, had changed plans and were headed to Taiwan, Torgerson said.

"I just feel wonderful now," said Mary Rauh, a New Castle resident who tried to contact Siroty in vain. "We are so relieved. It was a scary 48 hours or so."
