My favorite part of the C-Span forum last night.....
Edited on Mon Jan-10-05 10:56 PM by madfloridian
was when Dean said that his group now has more members than it did when he stepped down from the campaign. I thought that was a good thing. I would LOVE to know how many, but they don't say.

He was impressive when he spoke about what he did when he had to make hard decisions as governor. He said he would to the area, let them scream and yell at him for several hours, and then they would get down to the problems they shared in common.

The others were nowhere near him. I can't picture Fowler being the voice of the party. I am a southerner, and he was not cute or funny trying to act like one.

Be sure you sign up for a January 20th house party...the Other Inaugural. Link on the right.

1. I loved his story about going to the difficult places in VT
and letting them yell at him, letting them get it all out of their systems. What a unique, tho thoroughly HUMAN (born of those years as a practicing physician, no doubt!) way to handle something like that. So uncharacteristic of a politician, so HEALING for the people involved.

Dean continues to inspire and surprise me. It's not that I think he's perfect (there are a few tiny things I'd change about him if I could), but DAMN! he's CONSTANTLY amazes me. There is just no end to how he surprises and delights me.

I think one reason is because he keeps growing.

2. There is no such thing as a perfect candidate or person
All the 2004 candidates were flawed. Yes, there are things that Dean could have done better and as DNC he needs to do better handling the Media, but Dean has the energy and courage to defend and promote core Democratic principles. That is what makes him the BEST candidate for DNC Chair. It also makes him the best perosn for Dem Prez candidate, unless the new Al Gore returns.

3. Thank you for this, Madfloridian.
"In a lot of ways, Governor Dean's reason for running for DNC Chair is for the people—people like you—who want to take our country back. The Governor thinks the best way to do that is by leading the Democratic Party and building the DNC from the ground up. If the DNC is infused with the energy and drive shown by the people who support DFA, there's no telling what the DNC is capable of."

This is the really exciting part!
