Want Dean as DNC chairman? contact these people:
And politely ask them to vote for Dean and give them your reasons. Please don't annoy them or contact anyone in a different state. Snail mail would be preferable and please don't be an asshole by calling them at home OK?

3. Tom Hughes at DFA says DON'T write members unless you know them
http://www.blogforamerica.com/archives/005784.html

Attend a Democratic Party Meetup Tonight
You have a crucial opportunity tonight to help our campaign to elect Governor Dean as the next Chairman of the DNC. Democratic Party Meetups are taking place in coffee shops, restaurants, and local libraries across the country. These Meetups are an incredible way to continue the discussion with other Democrats about why Gov. Dean is the right leader for our party. Please find a Meetup near you are at:

http://democrat.meetup.com /

You can also help the campaign by participating in your local Democratic Party meetings (click for tools that will help you find the nearest meeting) scheduled for January. Local Democratic organizations are the building blocks for a stronger party and they play a crucial role in determining our party's leadership.

Finally, you can help the campaign by writing letters to the editor of your local newspaper in support of Gov. Dean. Please do not write letters directly to DNC members. Letters to DNC members who you don't know personally are not the most effective way to help Governor Dean's campaign.

Thank you for everything you do. We can't win this campaign without your help.

Tom Hughes
Political Director

5. In Texas we're going for the full body contact
The Democracy for Texas group in Texas has 40,000 members and a message went out to the list today for a vote on the chair. This was the exact order, alphabetically.

Jim Blanchard
Howard Dean
Donnie Fowler
Martin Frost
David Leland
Tim Roemer
Simon Rosenberg
Wellington Webb

The votes when tabulated will be presented to each TX DNC member as the winner of the DFT vote. I also know that some of our DFT organizers are going at their personal expense to the national DNC meeting to show support for Howard Dean.

7. Why thank you, PassingFair!
If Howard Dean can give us hope in Texas, then hope is not lost. All the red states hunger for leadership, direction and organization and Howard Dean has given us that hope. And damn it, we're going to fight for him. We know he'll fight for all of us at the DNC.

Give Howard the reins!

Heee Hawww!!!

9. A couple of other suggestions...
Edited on Sat Jan-15-05 12:37 AM by ImADeanDem
I got to participate in a conference call with the Guv last night, and he suggested sending positive, pleasant, HANDWRITTEN letters to Governors Rendell and/or Richardson, both of whom are rumored to be considering a run in 2008 -- meaning that they will need the support of the grassroots. His suggestion was basically to talk about how we (the grassroots) intend to be extremely activist in the next primaries, and that we would "love to be helpful" in their campaigns (with the implication being that we're more likely to support them if they support our choice for Chair). He suggested we emphasize the work that we did in his campaign, and certainly mention it if we got involved (or more active) in politics because of him.

The hard part, though, is that he said we should keep our letters to no more than 2 paragraphs, or they won't read them. So short and sweet is the name of the game! I'm still trying to figure out how to word my letter. The hardest part is getting the implication of "you help us, we'll help you" across without sounding like I'm threatening or bribing -- know what I mean?

Anyway, thought I'd share that info for anyone who's interested. (He also suggested sending thank you notes to Governor Vilsack, who's endorsed him. And if your state has a Dem Governor, you could write to them. I guess maybe the Governors have a lot of influence on the vote.)

Oh, the other thing he said was that the unions pretty much have the power to make or break his chances. He does NOT want us spamming people we don't know, but if you are a member of a union that has a representative on the DNC, it might be good to write to them.

Edited to take out the assumption I made that Rendell and Richardson were both DNC members -- I just checked, and they're not. I guess the thinking is that they have significant influence on members of the DNC, even though they're not themselves members.
