1. I saw this at The Note today.
"DNC chair's race:
We don't really know whether the growing support for Dean from some state
leaders LINK is simply a crack in ASDC discipline or the beginning of the
end for everyone who is not Dean.

For Howard Dean, next up are more Southern endorsements and perhaps a large
swath of delegates from the state of California. Watch for some DNC members
with union connections to follow suit."

I copied the paragraph, and I can't find the page again..it was from today.

2. How exciting..no one can predict who's
going to win less than a month away from the DNC Chair election.

I remember when it was between Terry McAuliff and Maynard Jackson.

3. I just read that Art Torres is miffed that electors are endorsing now
before the January 29th panel. Great about
CA.

He's kind of top down, whereas DFA is bottom up. He's having trouble adjusting.

He'll be OK.

We just did a progressive takeover of the delegates at the elctions

5. I wrote to the Cali members of the DNC in support of Dean.
I did not start it well, and the grammar is as bad as ever. Anyway, I hope it helps. These were snail-mailed. Twenty-one in all.

(to whoever)

Campaign rhetoric is one thing, but the actions that follow are what people really remember. Should the “big tent” of the Democratic Party be moved to the right? Is that what we need, more accommodation? What would be the rallying cry that could energize new voters to support such a political party?

Passionately moderate!

Confidently accommodating!

An exiting new pale shadow of our opponent!

I do not feel the Democratic Party can grow its base of support by continuing down the road of Republican Lite.

I do feel that there is a huge reservoir of untapped support on the left, looking for representation with the numbers to win and the will to lead.

In order to win now and in the future, I feel the new DNC chair must be able to energize ambivalent and disaffected voters, to excite and involve new voters and to inspire future voters. To mobilize supporters at the grassroots level and to stimulate donations from the public which will free the Party from having to solicit from corporations.

Howard Dean has proven he has the knowledge, experience and appeal to do these things. His ability to effectively communicate with citizens of all persuasions is unmatched by any other candidate for the chair. Gov. Dean, I feel, can do what is desperately needed right now: help win congresspeople for the Democratic Party in the 2006 elections.

And so, respectfully, I ask that you support Howard Dean for DNC chair.

Sincerely,

(me)
