I need help.
I have recently started a DFA group in my town. I currently have ten members-most of which are not registered. I need some great ideas about how to get the message out about this group.

Help!

1. Have you spoken to head office in Vermont?
are there any other DFA groups near you?

2. there are a few about an hour or so away.
One has given a couple of ideas. The other has even less members than I have. I have posted flyers, sent emails, etc. but there seem to be many apolitical or Repubs in my area.
I know we have progs around here. I'm just trying to find other ways to get the message to them.

3. What issues get your local folks hot & bothered?
Are there other existing local groups you can link up with?

4. Find out the local hot button issues
Also check to see if there's a Democratic Party club or meeting in your area and go and extend an invitataion.

Remember that the thrust of DFA today is ground-up and you may attack issues near and dear to the local political scene.

You have to call atention to yourself. I suggest flyering the 4th of July parade in your neighborhood if there is such a thing.

Also, contact your local SEIU or other Unions to see what's up with them-DFA works closely with SEIU in particular.

5. We are setting up a booth w/ the Prog Womens group
on the 4th.

I've noticed that most people in my area just aren't interested in what is happening around them. They really don't seem to give a damn any more. The answer I usually get it is "Well, it doesn't matter what I do since the politicians will do what they want anyways."

Anyone else have this same problem?

6. sure. Americans are disconnected by the millions

no wonder-with the Media giving them so much bullshit, which at some level they recognize as such.

What you mention is an expression of common fatigue factor among Americans.

That's why local issues are a great departure point. At it's core the voting populace is maybe 40% informed, the rest just can't be bothered or are too busy.

Are things that satisfactual in your neighborhood that the neocon takeover of the economy hasn't had any influence in local damage? Look at the schools, look at the cutback on municipal services, the rise in local property taxes, decaying infrastructure for lack of funds--this is all a direct result of the BFEE agenda of diverting all of our national income to war, and neglecting the Federal responsibility of support at the state level. So they cut taxes for the upper 1% and our local municipal fees and property tax goes up. Makes the 600 bucks most people got look pretty weak.
