1. I think it's VERY important to remember where we came from
Those heady early days of the campaign were important in one way: that the underllying theme of the campaign, what WE knew it was about, returning power to the people and wrenching control from the lobbyists and DC insiders, was connecting and resonating.

I have never seen or felt nor been a part of a Presidential campaign that outlived the election, ever, and we knew there was something going on even then. Howard, always pragmatic, tried to express this to the press-remember his comment on how he couldn't expect DFA to follow his "orders" and that we were independent of him in many ways?
Of course MSM took this as some kind of veiled threat, and other groups twisted our enthusiasm for the ideas as some kind of hero-worship, ignoring the actuality that the candidate knew full well he was just at the front of this massive wave, and he was riding it, but that thw wave moved on no matter who was riding it.

The empowerment that came out of that, that can't be put back in the bottle. It's grown far too large.

2. Yes, well, sometimes....
we eat our own. Sometimes we hurt the credibility of our own. For no really good reason at all.

3. They should have ended this DVD with Dean being unanimously elected
DNC chair and working to fulfill one of his promises -- Take back the Democratic Party!

4. Just watched Love Letter to the Dean Campaign on DemFest 2004 video.
I just watched it for the 2nd time. Hubby had not seen it before. Our DVD player had not been working for a while, got the new one set up today.

It was very moving. It was painful also.

But it hit me really hard, that we can't forget what it was all about. I saw Charlie Grapski on there....he is still fighting the great fight in Florida's Alachua county. I saw others who are still prominent today on the internet scene and active on the ground.

So I am going to order this Take it Back video today, so I won't forget 2004. It was not about Dean, it was about a new movement.

And I firmly believe that Carville and Begala named their book Take it Back after the Dean Campaign. I wish they had not done that, and I have my own feelings about their intentions on this.

I also remember that our Dean Campaign leaders here are now leading the Democratic party in this county. One is a state committee person. And the list goes on.

5. I ordered this, and it is sitting unopened.
I plan to watch it soon. I hear it is hard to view the parts about Iowa. Oh, well. I plan to watch it. I have heard it is excellent.
