Help me out here, guys. I'm ready to leave the party...
I'm SO disgusted with the whole scene in Ohio, I'm sick to my stomach. I can't gripe in GD without DLC operatives and Will Pittish "for the good of the party" sell-out bullshit artists telling me to "get over it" even though it just happened today.

It's TOO CLOSE to what happened to Dean. I am TOO disgusted.
I know that Hackett wasn't the PERFECT candidate. I didn't agree
with EVERYTHING he said, but he was a true Populist, with REAL
PEOPLE backing him and that, along with his bravery in calling
the administration out for what it is was enough for me.

Coming on the heels of the Cegelis dump, it is just too much to
bear. I am through working
for the democratic party.

I skipped our local dem meeting tonight, and even though I'm a
precinct delegate, I'm not planning on attending our state
convention this weekend.

Why bother?

I will continue to work for local campaigns, but the DLC senator and governor
in my state will do without my labor in 06.

Any sympathy out here?

1. I with you
I have donated to the DNC a couple times since the election, mainly in support of Howard Dean. I am done giving money to the DNC and the DSCC and DCCC. I will give money to groups like DFA, MoveOn, and the Progressive Democrats of America, and to individual candidates.

2. Thanks pstans!
I went to our district meeting last Thursday. I was asked to volunteer for executive committe work. I told my friend how I felt about our party, and he was amazingly sympathetic (he's a LONG time dem worker, real yellowdog!)
The happy thing is, his daughter, a progressive, is running for a state house seat, so he has talked me into working for her!

This way I get out of the obligatory work for our DLC Gov. and Senate Incumbent who are running this year. I will vote for them, but I WILL NOT work for them. I would feel like a snake-oil salesman going door to door for either of them.

3. I hear you ... that was all real shitty politics... I stayed out and am
not really up to date...

I have some advice. Find a local progressive candidate, or a candidate that is electable in your area, and voluenteer. Run for your neighborhood committee seat. Run for office yourself.

Even if you just go through the motions, it can be very rewarding. I've worked on several campaigns and it is a lot of fun.

And cheer up, Dean is Chair of the DNC!

4. Update.
You're right, of course, mdmc...
I decided it was better to work for change withing the structure.
I am NOT in it for fun, though. The people in our local dem structure
KNOW my feelings. If I leave, they will know why!
