Dunkelbarger!
Dunkelbarger
Submitted by ssachs on July 11, 2006 - 6:28pm.

Adam Reilly in the Phoenix does a nice job profiling Phil Dunkelbarger, who is mounting a primary challenge against Steven Lynch, a Democrat from Congressional District 9, including notably Boston and "South of Boston" areas. He has, appropriately enough, garnered the endorsement of South of Boston DFA.

For those who say Dunkelbarger isn't hip to all the new gizmos, I beg to differ:

* He's on DFA Link - click through to show your support.

* He's got his own blog, with posts going back to December 2005. Way before the cool kids caught on!

The centerpiece of the Dunkelbarger challenge appears to be centered on two hot-button issues: the war in Iraq, which Dunkelbarger opposed at the time and opposes now (contra Lynch, who has been a steadfast supporter); and a woman's right to choose, which Dunk supports and Lynch doesn't.

Is it enough to beat Lynch? 'ellifino. Most of us Boston-centric folks have only heard about the race thanks to Reilly's profile this week, and word on the street is that some 9th CD residents haven't heard much about it either. That being said, quiet, under-the-radar campaigns can sometimes be remarkably effective.

Should be an interesting primary!
