is in the works. I sent a donation toward this...it is an independent project, but it sounds like Heath is still at it. I saw some of the footage once...interesting.
Here is a recent email from him if you would to keep in touch about it.
You may recall that you donated some money towards the completion of a film about Howard Dean and the movement he inspired.
I wanted to say thanks again for your donation and give you a quick update.
Your faith in the importance of the project was much greater to me than the amount of money we made towards the production.
We have cut from over 250 hours of footage down to two hours. Over the next two months we will be fine-cutting the film, adding some narration, sound mix, color, pre-screening and preparing for a marketing push that will culminate with the primary season.
Hopefully there will be an audience for the lessons of 2004. Our feeling is that there will and we look forward to showing one perspective of what was special about the movement behind Howard Dean and why he was the choice of the people.
The outcome of the film and how this story will be told is as surprising to me as it may be to you. There really was no way to predict how this documentary would come out until the footage was truly flushed out. Like the Dean campaign, the dust had to settle before we could clearly see where we had to go from the progress we made.
Nothing is guaranteed at this point except that we think we have a significant, entertaining movie that makes an important statement about our country and the way Americans choose the presiding officer of their democracy.
We think the promise of distribution is likely. We think we will get into a major film festival during the primary season. We think you will enjoy the film, at the very least.
When we have some concrete answers, like where you and your friends can come and get your DVD and watch the film, I will get back to you.
Meanwhile, feel free to ask any questions or tell your pals that it's not too late to pre-order a copy of the dvd back at
the old thegrassrootsmovie.com website. Sincerely,
Heath Eiden
