Why not Joe Trippi for DNC chair?
I like Dean, but I would prefer to see him do something else besides run the DNC. I like Trippi for chair.
Anyone agree?

1. I kind of think Trippi freaked out under pressure
I could be wrong but that was my impression.

5. No I don't care about proffesional
I care about getting the job done when it all seems to be falling apart. I thought he kind of wilted when it wasn't so much fun anymore. I also saw a new mag piece where he seemed to blame the candidate. But Dean knows party machine politics, so he wasn't the problem. Trippi didn't prepare his staff or volunteers for that part of it.

6. I feel the opposite
I think that things started going Dean's way, that Dean got scared and punted.
Iowa was where Dean failed. DFA should have campaigned harder against the media scream.
I know the campaign fell apart. I'm sure both men played a part in it.
Bottom line - Dean caused the campaign to shift gears. We would have ran Lieberman or Graham if Dean was not in the race (same results - we lose, and stand for nothing).

2. Trippi's a genius at advertising and marketing, but I don't
know about the other skills he'd have to have for the job. He might be great at it, who knows?

8. Disagree,
Trippi was a genius at internet fundraising. He wrote the book. He was the first.
He stank at advertising. Ever see the ads that ran in Iowa? Not pretty. Loads of money spent on drivel, not sure if it was because Trippi wanted control or if there were no good agencies to handle such a "liberal" candidate.
By the way, I really believe that things fell apart in Iowa because the party wanted them to. Democrats pushed the idea that it was Iowa or bust even though Clinton had initially lost in Iowa. Dems ramrodded Kerry through the primary system.

9. Yeah, I agree with this. Fundraising, yes; ads, find someone else.
Can't speak to his skills for DNC chair. I don't think that's even really in the running, is it?

7. Trippi is too self absorbed.
The way he would hold court during the campaign tells me he is more interested in promoting himself than any cause.

Just my .0125

10. I agree
I think he fell apart and could not handle the really tough times.
People complained about his adds and he just would not listen.

11. Yes
I think he would be a breath of fresh air. Not just another party appartchnik. I'd love to see Trippi try and duplicate the Dean campaign's online fundraising effort with 2006 Congressional candidates. I think he could bring alot of energy and get people fired up about 2006 and help get more people actively involved in the campaign than some of the other people who have been mentioned.
