Dean has to be proposed if only to shake loose from the oxymoronic DLC mentality cleanly and with fresh energy. Energy to vitalize a people now oppressed and occupied. Energy to overcome the morass. 3. A breath of fresh air

I agree there is a lot of love for the good Dr.

I have especially enjoyed seeing the Clarkies who are coming out in support of Dean. I don't mean the ones who are out to have him occupied so he can't run in 08, there are some who actually like him and feel he'd do a good job.

Sad that there are some hard-core assholes here though. Damn sad.

4. I think there are a lot of political cultists on DU

The fraud threads, for instance. If it is suggested that fraud may not pan out in reversing national elections, a core group goes ape shit.

In my experience, this is not a normal way of behavior for Democrats. I mean, the chances of Kerry winning after a recount is tiny. The recounts should occur, but the tactical victory of a recount is to pressure for improved voting methods, generally.

These people also don't take into account the upheaval in the country, should a reversal take place at this point. We are more likely to find out what happens in a case like that in Washington, where the Republican currently has a 261 vote margin before the automatic recount results.

5. Update that, the margin in the WA race for Guv is 42 votes

After the machine recount.

Now there's hemming and hawing about partial or full manual recount. I wrote the state Dem chair to just go for the full. Gore look like a thief when they went for the partial Florida recount.

Count all the votes, all the time.

6. Any of the people who are serious and have studied up on the issue

will admit that the point is not to try to overturn the election but to get rid of auditless vote tabulation so that we can be reasonably confident that we can win on a level playing field.
