1. I resolve to remove all of the darkness from my life, both internal and external.
Which is usually the same thing.

Come October or November, you're not going to wave this thread in our faces, are you? ;) 'Cause I'd resolve to give up Rocky Road ice cream if you promise to not "check up" on us down the line

5. Yes...I need to completely stop being a bully/dominating type, and do love instead.

I've been working on this for a long time, several years in fact, but there is a lot left to do, and many who don't care that I'm making progress (sometimes, such as yesterday, it comes up, which unfortunately is how I find that I still have more work to do). Those who don't like it are so hysterical and defensive that they don't care that I'm working on it- they just REACT. Which I've earned...I suppose that I have to let go of the results. There it is again, me needing to manage the results. I believe that it gets into everything that I do, and is even harming the "Vision/Dreaming" threads. Very low post count these days. You should start doing them again now that things are getting better for you. I need to be quiet and not run things.

This thread is a great idea! I'm so happy that you're feeling better; I didn't know that it had been so bad for you. Adding you back into my prayer regimen! :hi:

Edit: And NO, you can't have my Rocky Road. You can't can't can't!

6. SMOKING ;(
I tell myself I "don't smoke enough to make it count" but the steady increase of my blood pressure over the past year and taking birth control and lying to my doctors about my little dirty secret is an indication it is time to stop.

I usually have the habit of only smoking 1-2 at night after the kids are in bed...it is my down time and I like to veg out and watch junk tv and 'pollute my body' ... I used to journal when i sat by the fireplace in the evenings, now I am just acting like a junkie....smoking more and feeling it the next day is NOT okay. I am not 20 anymore and I need to give it up. AND I need to do it without filling the space with EATING. So finding a newoutlet and even a new room to be in and turning the tv off seems to be the only way to shift it... any other ideas or hits?

what IS the thing about smoking that makes it so psychological. I want a cigarette if I see people smoking in a movie! I associate it with the poet/artist in me and feel like I am being 'pensive' when jornaling and smoking... too silly.
I started smoking at 14 and used to only do it on weekends and when partying thru my teens. so i guess i thought i was cool.
in my 20s & especially in the last 10 years it has become a stress release. I was able to quit during my pregnancies, but still it was just a matter of time before I caved again...

so anywhoo, there it is.

7. I started when I was 12 (eek)
and quit several times (sometimes for years) but finally quit for good when I was 36.

I set a date, switched brands to something I didn't particularly enjoy, and each day, tried to smoke less or at different times than usual to help break the habit.

But the one thing that made the difference, I quit on my daughter's birthday. She didn't even know I smoked, but it was my gift to her.

Good luck! You can do it!! (By the way, I started seeing health improvements within days!)

8. started yoga today :( i cried
that's not cool...i know i shouldn't push myself but just holding my body up on my hands & knees was a challenge... i just realized how all the years of abuse, recovery, arthritis, etc have just taken ALL my strength and flexibilty.. it makes me really sad and depressed. Maybe I also broke loose some cellular memory too cuz i worked muscles I haven;t touched in years, too...
my teacher gave me a 'talking down' after class and helped me breathe & ground. It's good that she is also one of my meditation class teachers so she knows me well and hugged me and told me to back off and go easy...but it just really hurts my heart that my body is so freaking WEAK! ...it's scary to me!

I have to force myself to continue, to go back thursday and take the next step. but my tears are really still near the surface and my body is still shaking in wierd places.

9. "That means it's working".
To quote the venerable shampoo commercial!

Do you have suffering built up in your muscle tissue? This will get it out and make you feel GREAT! Just stick with it and cry as much as you need. You have to walk through it and you'll be in a far better place than before.

Aren't you giving yourself kudos for doing what's good and right for you? I'm excited for you on this. Pull the band-aid and you'll feel better in no time!   (Sending prayers and light)

Watch a funny movie...

10. suffering & muscle tissue
TONS !!

I think that was the kicker, i just felt SOOOO much grief popping out of me like pop-rocks....I had to actually get up, walk out of class, go around the bldg and cry for 5 minutes before I could come back in and try again. thank god by then they were on to the laying down moves and i could just lay there and weep while trying to stretch.

ya, I am just raw now. but yes, i am trying to give myself props for even showing up today, because I was soooo close to chickening out, too.

it is really an eye opener, for sure...i have been hauling this body arund for a long time and just using it like a workhorse, but I haven;t 'cultivated strength' just took it for granted, and then when my arthritis got bad, i just stopped moving. so i shouldn't expect moving again after 10 years to feel GOOD, can I?

11. more on cellular memory...
http://spiritofmaat.com/sep07/cellular_memory.html

I can remember trying to stretch when i was in the thick of some of the grief and abuse and stuff and ho much it hurt THEN... so now at least i am not IN it anymore,

but still...sheesh! ouch!
breathing and weeping is my thing tonight i think ....
and even though I "should be" drinking water and going to bed early, a beer and some late night tv may be the escape!

12. I'm sorry about your tears
but it sounds like it was the release you needed.

I've been thinking of doing yoga again (stopped over 2 years ago when I moved). Based on your post, I plan to go tomorrow afternoon.

Thanks for the idea.

13. My resolutions are simple: 1) Get rich. 2) Get famous. 3) Set about lording my money and fame
over others.

Anyone who wants to help me out with achieving those goals is more than welcome to do so.

16. I'm not (entirely) joking.
That attitude seems to be working for a not insignificant portion of the rest of financially prosperous humanity, so I think I'll try it.

Relax, all, I will also use my money and fame to advance non-self-oriented goals.

Sometimes.
