Finding it difficult....
to celebrate my 71st BD with all that's going on in Haiti! God help these poor souls, and let them KNOW somehow, that help is on the way!!!
I'm going to be attending Church this Sunday with my daughter and her family, and plan to donate through their outreach org. Hope the Church roof doesn't fall on my head, 'cause it's been a long time. Folks like Pat Robertson (whom I used to admire...yuk) have pretty much turned me off of organized Christianity. I will try to refrain from "pre judging", but know this...my antenni will be up at full volume!!! My kids are going to take me to a "Popeye's" chicken near their Church. Hope I can taste some of those good cajun spices they use!! LOVE their food !

1. Do try to enjoy your day, JA
Are you one of us crazy empaths or in touch with your inner Kwan Yin/compassion? If so, then sure, it's tough managing to block out everything going on in the world these days, but you owe it to yourself to have a wonderful, happy birthday with your family. Give your grandson tons of smooches--that should help.

Hope you have a joyous birthday!

7. Thanks MG!
Got your face book greetings as well. You are a gem !! Love the coffee house story!! At least you got out in the sunshine today! Writing this last sentence brought an old song back to mind..."We'll sing in the sunshine" My hubby and I were just starting out when that was popular, and we both loved it!!(flower children of the peace movement that we were!!) I think the gal that sang it was Gale Garnet. Thanks for the memories!!

2. Aw, girl. I know how you feel JA.
And I really try to live by not adding any more suffering to the world, that's really really hard. But I try to balance it out by also trying to stay centered and add some good.

And it seems that going to church with your family, donating to Haiti, eating some good spicy chicken that may wake up your taste buds, are adding a lot of balance and good.

My mom was a big fan of Robertson and the 700 Club during my teenage years, and always giving, giving, giving money. But the things he's said are absolutely appalling! She had to finally reconcile her negative feelings about homosexuality and the gay men and women she worked with as a nurse over the years. How anyone could wish and speak ill on a group of people was enough to make her sick. It was like listening to him was endorsing his bat-shit craziness. She's still a Christian but a lot more spiritual.

Early Happy Birthday, JA.
Have some of the extra spicy! Cayenne is great for killing germs and getting your blood flowing.

4. I hope you still have a Happy Birthday, JA...
Send all the love to the people suffering and the pro's going there, and you do not need to feel guilty celebrating your birthday, ok?
People are there and going there to help, while you and me just can not - and that is ok.

6. Thanks rumpel!
I know you are right, but having been through a disaster in my youth, I know just a minute part of what they are going through. Mine was just a flood. All I lost was earthly possessions and my home went floating down the river. Compared to what they are going through now, it was a walk in the park, but at the time it was happening I thought the whole world was ending. I heard some young girl screaming on the news the day it happened in Haiti that, "the world is coming to and end!!" and it just ripped my heart out. I pray that they somehow find out how much the world cares, and that help is indeed on the way. For those souls whose lives were lost....the pain of the world is over....but the survivors...not nearly, nor soon enough. I thank you for the Birthday wishes, and am thankful that I've heard from each of my kids today and was even serenaded by my Aidan on the phone this AM. He sang Happy Birthday to Nana all the way through, and didn't miss a note!!! LOL Love that kid!

10. Aw...thank you so much!
It's funny...I don't feel a year older...but do realize how time is speeding up as each year passes. Let's see what happens next. Sometimes life is just like reading a good book, ya just can't put it down!! LOL
I guess I'm like a Timex watch..."takes a licking and keeps on ticking" Hugs and love to you :)

I hope it was an okay day, even with all the tragedy in Haiti. Sometimes, there's no real way to help as much as we would like.
