Compound elementals.....

A good way to start would be to explain the way to feel your own aura between the palms of your hands first.
First (beginners need to do this as it is very subtle at first but gets stronger as you practice......those that already feel energy fields wont have to )...clap the palms together sharply a few times and/or rub them together very briskly.
This will make the nerves very sensitive and the blood flow to the hands..along with energy. If you take a few seconds to visulize and give the mental command for energy to flow down the arms and out the palm centers it will help a lot.
Real magic is the Art of Arts...and is the science of correct thinking as an energy being.
Place the palms a few inches apart in a "Prayer" position and lightly and slowly...compress the air between the palms a few times until you feel a "thickness".
Then you can hold one palm still and with the finger tips slightly above the palm...gently and slowly "comb" the air between the finger tips and the other palm of the hand..and feel the light-fibers. They are slightly ticklish.
These are just excersises for those who have yet to learn how to feel their own or other's energy fields and so you will understand what you will be feeling as you work on your compound elemental.
To begin to build a compound elemental is much the same way..but this time...instead of patting and combing etc...you simply let the energy run down your arms and out your hands while holding them about five to 8 inches apart.....if you also just slightly pat the air..you will feel a ball of energy begin to form. It will continue to grow more "dense" as you pour more energy into it.
Once you can feel the ball of energy between the palms...then focus your intent on what you wish your compound elemental to do/be.

(For example...I made one once to guard my home as I had a business in the front and sometimes if I was in the basement I could not hear the door.
So I made/visulized my thought-form to be like a dog in the yard and a cat on the porch and gave the instructions to notify me if anyone came to the place.
I never missed another caller and was able to be upstairs before they even pulled all the way into the parking lot.)
They will continue to work until the energy is all used up in the compound elemental.

While programming your compound elemental you will feel it growing stronger and stronger and when it has enough energy to fulfill what you wish...it will suddenly feel like it is gone. It is just off doing what you programed it to do.
If you are working on it and it still feels there and you are tired or need to do something else...place the ball of energy in a place where it will NOT be disturbed (or you will have to start over)..and the next time you are ready to work on it...and you reach for it..you will still find it there.
It is best to keep it in a special place on your alter if you have one..if not..a place that no one else will disturb.
However if you reach for it and you cannot feel it sitting there ..(they get quite easy to feel)..it is off doing whatever you programmed it to do.
*other examples of what you can use one for..

You can place them in your own energy field...just like putting on a hat..for compound elementals that you have programmed for your own self-help...like waking up at a certain time...or remembering something important...or stopping yourself every time you are carelessly snacking or to help you stop smoking.. etc..etc...etc.
You are only limited by yourself and your imagination.
Another use is to send not just a single healing zap but something someone can draw on for a long while...like if they are in a bad situation like Haiti is.
Be aware that this is a very powerful thought form and can indeed "take on a life of it's own almost."

When I had the cat on the porch and the dog in the yard...I would suddenly feel just like a dog had put its nose against my hand or the cat was bumping on my legs and I would then "know" someone was coming.
(by the way..the more we learn to trust our own little voice of Seeing and Knowing...the stronger it gets.)

The reason this form of a concentrated thought-from is called a compound elemental is not just because that is a cool-sounding name for it :P But rather because all things start in the Spirit and pass through the elements and the planes connected to each element and ends up here on the physical plane/earth.
As most of you already may know..each of our energy centers/chakras are also connected to an element as well as they are a gate to that plane/dimension/vibration rate of being.
BE sure not to give or place your own energy into your compound elemental (same when you are trying to heal) but remember to draw on the universal supply (there is plenty..enough to make galaxies and more) so you never have to give away your own energy.
Just draw from your own ideas of your higher self or whatever form you feel the univerals God/Goddess takes

Beware of the improper use of compound elementals because they are much more powerful than a simple one-pointed Intent/thought-form.
If it is misused such as being used against someone with a brighter energy field than your own (and lets face it..if one is doing black magic their energy field isn't very bright :P) it will "mirror"/bounce back and gain even more force...right back to you.
Always remember we reap what we sow and you will be fine.
No one who wants power for the sake of power ever gets enough to be truly powerful anyways.
We only get enough to teach us a lesson of why it is not wise to misuse our spiritual gifts.
"Harm none"..and this includes the self.

I don't think I've ever done anything like that before. I've never tried (or allowed?) myself to "feel" others' energy in a physical way such as with my hands (it's always with my heart), nor done any exercise such as this.

I started with the newbie exercise you suggested and I actually surprised myself with how PALPABLE it was!! I laughed out loud...it was so cool!!

I was led to go outside, into the first bit of warmth and sunshine we've had in quite a while. I was next led to face the Southwest and began creating the "ball" of energy, focusing on intent and the flow of energy from Source.

Lo and behold, I could indeed feel it between my hands. :)

The neighbor's black and white cat came over to lay in front of me as I stood in my backyard.

I was so focused on what I was calling forth via this compound elemental (and it took on a visual of a ball of sunlight...yellow was prevalent...creative freedom was a huge part of my focus) that I don't really know precisely when I no longer felt it.

But it did seem to leave.

When I became aware of this, I asked for a sign as to any totem guides to help with this exercise.

In a matter of seconds, a crow called out, and I knew to pay attention to how many there were. Five crows passed overhead, heading North, calling out as they flew.

The kitty then got up, turned to face North, and just sat, looking straight ahead.

In some traditions the color of south is green but as I prefer the 4 colors of the people of the earth..I use the red.
South is either deer, coyote or mouse.
West is "Looks Within"
West is Bear, the color is black.
East is Eagle in the circle.."Sees far" is the gift/attribute and the color is Yellow.
North is Buffalo in the circle..
Wisdom is the gift that it brings.
The crow is a messenger.
Five are the Elements.
You were just working with the five elements after all ;)
Earth, water, fire, air and Spirit.

I'd love for them (heck, the entire neighborhood) to be respectful of others - truly, that's how I intend (and diligentaly work towards) to live my life: respectfully. Which is why I do not understand why I cannot attract people who *ARE* respectful - but I guess that's another subject.

Anyway, if I build an elemental that awakens them to empathy, am I infringing upon them? Casting something that will come back and, as winyanstaz says, bite me?

25. Perhaps you can do it in another way...

For example, put a ward on your home and only if they trigger it will it send any energy their way. They would be the ones calling it forth.
We are allowed to defend ourselves.
Another way and one that I use myself but only in extreme cases...is to ask Spirit for justice.
Just ask for Justice as you make the elemental...
Be absolutly sure you are in the right because if you ask for Justice...you will receive justice...and its far better to be on the right end of that one!
I have only been driven to used it a couple of times and everytime..what happened to the person was far worse than anything I could have ever thought of on my own.
Just watching that made me even more reluctant to use it unless I absolutly feel I have no other choice and that I have to ask.
I knew at the time it was their own karma but it still was sad to see what happened to them...so be very wise if you ever do ask for justice.

I think this technique was originally from his excellent book Initiation Into Hermetics. It's a great and very straight forward book full of wonderfully effective exercises.

A new book I also really like is Hands-On Chaos Magic by Andrieh Vitimus. In spite of the name it's very much like Bardon's book - focusing on techniques & exercises and not so much theology of a particular tradition.

7. Well, that was cool ...

... I am used to feeling that energy between my hands, having done Reiki, but this one was very different. It was interesting - it grew and grew and I asked for some help in lifting my funky, grumpy mood of late. I breathed it in and then released it ... and it was just a joyous moment!

I did a brief intention-setting meditation, and then tried this, asking for assistance in keeping my thoughts on the tasks in front of me, instead of distracted by worry or discontent. I am trying something this morning as I am "stuck" at the computer typing, typing, typing boring things.

I decided to try a bit of magic involving the energy of what I am calling forth being embodied with each keystroke....like when I'm typing this, the manifestation is coming forth with grace and ease with every keystroke. I'm typing for a cause! LOL ;)

I decided to create a compound elemental specifically for this process...this experiment.

Indeed, I felt the ball form VERY clearly, right away, and much larger than what I experienced before. It felt real instantly.

I was going to let it set on my keyboard but was led to hold it in front of the monitor...where "manifestation" will actually take place.

MY MONITOR GLITCHED WHEN I DID THAT!!!! Holy mazzolie, there's energy in my hands for certain and I'm harnessing it!!!!

Unlike most of you, I've never practiced Reiki or anything "hands on" -- nothing beyond tapping into my heart center and letting healing energy go through my hands when my daughter or a pet isn't feeling well. I've never learned anything formally nor practiced anything formally...not in a concrete way as Winy has suggested with this compound elemental exercise.

All I can say is WOW!!!!! :) This novice is excited!!!

Please let us know what you can see if you try this exercise...or not. Don't give up too soon :) and remember to try it at different arms lengths away too..sometimes that makes all the difference.

But there will be one shortly.
The first site though will be dealing with our music (Metaphysical rock) and with music of other pagans..because we already have thee Cd's now to sell...and another 35 originals in the works along with a couple of chant tapes.
One of my sons has finally learned how to create sites and is already working on our site.
However I am planning on either doing a second site or just adding more rooms to deal with magick...like an on-line magic shop.
I have written a book and several small pamphlets and created a few gliffs, posters and down-loadable pictures of nature spirits for the Magick shop already.
I want it to eventually be a place in virtual reality that you can walk into...like a game where you can learn about magical tools by clicking on the items in the shop and/or meet and learn with "teachers" and elementals and spirits etc...and click on magical tools and things and learn about them and or buy them as well if you wanted to.
I think it would be interesting if it also showed what could happen with wrong choices...but thats another subject...
In the end you would hopefully become enlightened/win ;)...sort of like an on line Mystic do jo :D heheh...
However something that complicated will be a ways down the road.
In the meantime I will just keep plugging away on a regular on-line magic site along with the music site.
I am very glad you were able to use this technique and adding Reiki is exactly the right thing to do..as you already know how to do that and it is basically the same thing...channeling energy.
