I know you guys don't like to venture into GD...
but here is my latest rant...after receiving the latest "donate" letter I just couldn't help but write to Whitehouse.gov and TRY to put some reason into their heads...

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x7527921

*sigh* I am feeling very disillusioned right now, all the positive things we "thought" we saw in our Pres. (false readings?)
And now I feel like we have been snowed by another wolf in sheeps clothing. Not a very happy place to be, so please help me hold that Massachusetts was a wake up call and the CHANGE we asked for will finally start showing up!

1. Nicely put, FirstLight
And the replies are positive for the most part. It's not surprising at least one misinterpreted the bit about weeping. It was obvious to me that meant tears of joy, but sometimes it has to be spelled out.

I know many here foresaw Obama as a great president, and I had great hope, with reservations. Back in the primaries, I was sorely disappointed when the-powers-that-be decided that Dennis Kucinich was not going to be allowed into the debates. Someday, I hope, we can wrestle this control away from the corporate media so they don't wield such power over our political process.

Then I had to put up with the Texas Democratic Party invoking a "loyalty oath" for Dennis to sign before they would "allow" him on the ballot. At the time, I was under the impression that only RW nutjobs did things like that, but I saw it firsthand here, and found my power had been wrested from me yet again.

At this time in our country's history, it certainly appears that the only reason any of us exist is to supply the votes to the candidates that TPTB choose for us. And until we get out power back, it will continue on in the same way.

~~~
Sorry for my rant, but all I have is hope at this point and not much else.
2. Fresh out of Hope today...
I am thinking that the events of this year may alter the playing field so that it doesn;t matter who is in power...
You know, I can only say this HERE in ASAH - but I've been getting some big impressions that this is the year the shit collectivey hits the fan. and I am nit one of those who thinks things can change on a dime into our New Earth...it is gonna look narly for a while..
this is just my opinion:
Haiti is but the first of many earth changes that are going to tap humanity and level the collective playing field in a really big way. There is no "saving grace" from aliens or God that will reverse the huge forces of nature at work here. it is WAY bigger than all of us. If we have even ONE catastrophic event a month, how long will it be before the countries who come to aid say "we can't help , we are suffering our own crises" how long will it be before all the money runs out? (since money is just an illusion anyway)...between weather disasters, earth shifts in plates and magnetic polarity, and everyhing else that is set to hit the collective fan...I keep thinking this may be the next step.
It is great that when something happens there is such a global response, and yet when each counrty is tapped in their resources...what happens then? Not only do we all end up pulling together and seeing how small and non-powerful we really are as humans - but perhaps it will create collective change as well. perhaps some crumbling of infrastructure is what is needed to re-establish community and tribe...and for us to rediscover out real power lies with one another and togetherness...
then again, i hate the idea that MORE suffering has to happen before teh hoomins pull their collective heads out of their asses.
In a perfect world and in a ideal situation...the President we elected would make good on his soaring speeches and we would have our New America built by next year...local bartering and banks only exist for internation aid purposes, community gardens and local farmers thriving, Infrastructure based on those futuristic pictures of solar panels and electric cars, people living green because it is the NORM not the expensve way to 'show you care', jobs for everyone iun rebuilding, WARS OVER and soldiers and families healed, children and education expanded to allow for full potential...humans helping one another instead of sying "i've got mine"
Obama said the 'status quo' would no longer be viable...but unfortunately he is trying to create that Change by playing by the OLD rules.
i dunno
just woke up and thought I would share that vision etc......it has been bugging me for a few days
4. Yes to all of the above.
Edited on Thu Jan-21-10 06:19 PM by Fire Walk With Me
Except that Obama may be acting as a good teacher should: forcing the student to do the work required for a satisfying and satisfactory result. And perhaps that it will still matter who is in power.
Unless WE become those who are in power. It is indeed OUR COUNTRY. If we allow others to decide for us, they obviously will.
There will be more charity in 2010. Charity often occurs through trouble. "Change" is a double-edged sword, and Obama likely used the word in a very sly, tongue-in-cheek manner. However, we are always at our very best when coming together to assist others.
I believe that I recently posted some prayers, leading with "-We are co-creating the idea of charity in all of Mankind".
Edit: I feel that something I've agree with in such a blanket manner, will turn out to be incorrect. I'm not sure which item it is in your list, but I have a hunch about something.
5. I was just reading a little more of that thread,
and one source of income came to mind, for myself and others: Zazzle.com, CafePress.com and whatever other online product-creation sites there are these days. I have a Zazzle account but haven't ever put it to use. I have ideas, just not much motivation. I know it's not much, but it's something, if you've considered it.
Or, move to Australia/New Zealand and get all the things in government we haven't gotten here ;)
I know that would be a good source of residual income...rofl...as would be a book deal...!
thanks for understaning my frustration too...I am usually much better at being optimistic (at least when it comes to the big picture, MY life sux), but somethin has got me by the grumpy today! :(
7. The only idea I've had was for a t-shirt design, using Chiron
but not the asteroid ;)
My artistic skills are minimal, So, I'd either need help, or have to do something up in PhotoShop and then trace/ink in Painter. Just a simple inking, though I love the inking style of a favorite comic artist, Donna Barr.
Things certainly cascade out of control, so it's understandable when it seems so hopeless. What I am seeing, though, is that the White House and others in the rest of the government are incensed with the SCOTUS, so something positive may come of this. And I do remember one post in GD that mentioned getting the teabaggers riled up with the notion that ACORN and unions now have unlimited donation power, too ;)
8. my thread about checking OUT hit the FRONT PAGE
over 180 recs...
i think the tides are turning in that direction, we may have a revolution of NON participation because so many of us are just dissillusioned
and the idea of returning to the land is in our collective consciousness...
who's ready to "buy the farm"...?
I dreamed of the ranch last night and I just wanna get up there and roll in the dirt! :rofl:
I was mentioning to OGR that in my requests for a soulmate/partner relationship...i should add that I want a farmer! (or solar electrician or hydro-engineer...?)
ya, maybe that vision is closer than i think?
9. Non-participation = They win.
Eternal vigilance is the price of freedom.
I've only seen the news this morning regarding them turning the country over into the true definition of Fascism:
Fascism comprises a radical and authoritarian nationalist political ideology and a corporatist economic ideology. -en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fascism
Of course, if the corporations control politics, the national ideology will of necessity be radical and authoritarian.
Remember "WALL*E"? The extremely dark part about the world being utterly controlled by a single corporation (well, later, its machines), and it utterly wasting the planet?
We can NEVER opt out. And we, as lightworkers, are powerful enough to affect the outcome. It is our responsibility.
Of course, this could be the flip side of change in general: We have to see them for what they are, in order to truly reject them. As we began to, with Resident BushCo.
Edit: To add "...later..."
I agree, I very much agree FWWM. Which is why I view DU as one of the darkest places I know right now. I just come in for the groups.
We already have.
Thats why everything is coming apart at the seams.
