Great story and video at http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=125504307

This is a serious dream come true for me and inexpensive. I could make my own equipment for about $30 but I'm going to wait and get their supplies later this month when they become available.

First time I've ever looked forward to spring cleaning, just to get this project going. If I clean faster than I expect, I'm going to plunge right in and start making my own stuff - since the instructions are online at the site and a worldwide forum of other urban farmers - http://our.windowfarms.org/ - it may take a while to load, it did for me.

Anybody else doing this or something similar?

Keep you posted :grouphug:

3. I sure will. The more I think about
the happier I get and starting to mentally arrange stuff. I can barely get to my plants so I've already told my husband that we cannot use the balcony and porch as closets any longer

2. I heard that story this morning on NPR and it made me excited too
My part of Southern California is known for its cool cloudy springs with very little sun and coastal fog, so I'm going to try "real gardening" in the summer.

Last year I was successful with tomatoes in pots I grew from seeds from my favorite farmers market tomatoes. This year I intend to be a little more ambitious and this story was just what I needed to raise my enthusiasm. Good luck.

4. Oh, my God. Did you feel it a few moments ago?!

I'm in Southern California, too. That was one long quake!

Wow, I've never had luck with tomatoes but I heard once they got going they're hard to control.

Oh, good luck to you too! Please, keep me posted.

5. This is incredible!
I've bookmarked this and will be sharing. I have some tomatoes growing in an aero garden and some plants, including tomatoes and herbs in front of the living room window in my cave and in the bedroom. I've put up timed, full-spectrum lights since I live in the Pacific NW where there's not much sun. I may still need the artificial lighting, but the rest looks doable.

6. Wow, the aero garden really works, huh?
We have to keep each other posted on this. I'm so looking forward to growing my very own herbs and some vegetables. I've done onions and garlic in big planters, a lemon tree but this indoor expansion is a dream. I'm going to check into the aero garden again because I had heard so many bad reports about it early last year.
Thanks, Liberlmuse!
