Will prayer help NOLA?
It's hard to look at all that is happening in NOLA and not feel hopeless and helpless. Add that to reports of people wanting to help, offering help, and none being accepted.

A few minutes ago, something inside me said--just pray. Is this the right thing to do right now? Can it help all the poor people there that are suffering and have already lost so much?

Help--I need some insight and support on this.

Thank you...

P.s. Does anyone know of a good time when everyone could focus light and support on NOLA simultaneously?

1. Prayer won't hurt.
Even though I'm not a Christian, I am a white lighter and I send energy and positive thoughts to situations such as these.

i have permission to pass this on. it comes from a very wise and caring woman who is a vodou priestess. it is a petition to Erzulie Dantor to protect and aid people hit by the storm. I'm also including the words she sent along with the prayer because they are full of wisdom.

quote below:

"So, my offer is to sit tight, say prayers that all our friends are safe and sound. It is our grace to stay calm and not add etheric energy to the crisis, but to continually issue prayers of peace, love and solidarity.

Once the fields are drained, and folks can get back to their homes, we'll see how we can help them then. Right now though, prayer is all we can do. But it's a mighty gift in and of itself.

Find our Lady of Czestochowa here:
(i'm not comfortable posting this link, you can do a google search)

Print this out, light a yellow candle and say the following prayer before her image:

By the Power of Our Lady of Sorrows,
Mambo Erzulie Dantor,
Wife of Makaya, Mother of Ti-Jean,
With all the escorts of my mother and my father,
I beg your protection and blessing
To those who are suffering in this world.
Bilolo, Bilolo, Bilolo.

Offer rum, pork, silver chains, silver knives, yellow, red or navy blue ribbons, scarves or flowers. *

Do this for our friends and family, so that they are safe and loved and protected.

Ayibobo.

</end quote>

*(note: any of these things will suffice - simply offering flowers and a candle is fine) Saturday would be a good day to do this

3. I am sending white light...compassion and love for these souls
suffering ...not just the Gulf coast but also in Iraq, Afghanistan, Africa...OK...entire planet earth......

I think there is no real need to wait...just take a few seconds and visualize these people getting nourishment and comfort, whatever they need, whenever you feel called.

4. Thank you ALL!
I've started my prayers--and sending white light. I'm so pleased to see today such an outpouring of love and support, from some of the most unexpected places.

Thanks again, everyone!

5. St. Jude
St. Jude is considered the patron of hopeless cases. He is my favorite saint; I feel he has helped me in the past. I prayed to him last night on behalf of New Orleans and all the poor people suffering there and will continue to pray to him.

6. HI
I'm sorry that I am seeing this so late. Thank you for your response.

I just decided after another day of feverish posting and watching way too much CNN, that I need to let this go to a higher power. After I contact my senators, the media (telling them how I hate what they are doing), etc., etc. I've got to let it go.

St. Jude sounds like the perfect Saint to pray to right about now. Thank you for the suggestion!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, everyone!

7. All prayers
are energy/intent sent out. I take a moment to send out love and light every time I think of their need. Certainly all the love and light we can send will help ease the suffering and loss. There are probably already prayer circles, vigils, etc. planned. You could stop and add to them, from where ever you happen to be. There is a prayer circle group on DU that might have something set up:
