The Star.

This is an entirely personal question about Tarot, I'm not sure how much, if any, political or social significance it has--but it's driving me crazy. I've been getting the Star card frequently in my work with Tarot of late. My research has always indicated that the Star indicates a querent may be looking for (or turning away from ) inspiration, spirit or spiritual guides, including astrology, to inform her life. It can also, allegedly, have to do with changed in a person's life foretold by astrology or prophecy. What I want to know is--do any of you have other information about the Star? Do any of you know if it has ever been affiliated with "stardom," as in "celebrity"? Just wondering. Thanks.

1. My teacher taught that the star

was a sign of hope and guidance. Finding your way, a point of navigation. If you receive light you are bound to share it.

Which could indicate celebrity in some fashion. It may be more clear to you if it's interpreted along with the surrounding cards. I was actually taught that the magus (magician) was indicative of talent and fame. However tarot evolves in each of us and one can come to interpret certain cards with certain meanings. It's up to the reader to decide. What do you think it means and what has it come to suggest to you.

It could be one "your" archetypal cards.

What you mention about the Magician is interesting. Lately, I've been dismayed to see the Magician (which is always, if it is clear from the spread that the card refers to me, symbolic of either my creative writing or my magical problem-solving skills) in positions which indicate its significance isn't relevant to my present situation. That's been frustrating, I could use my "magical" skills now. And I was so hoping to stumble into stardom (seriously...oh, well).

3. Some people have stumbled into stardom as a magus

Jeane Dixon, Edgar Cayce, Jean Roberts (who eschewed fame, but got it anyway) have had to deal with the combination. The challenges for the public magus is as follows:

1) Keep a private life for yourself. The adulation of millions and the addition of a staff at times can lead one to forget that there is a need for down time and for relationships with people who love you just because.

2) Money. Hanging around other celebrities can lead to the temptation to charge enough to live their lifestyle to the detriment of your clients, readers, et cetera. Or to eschew handling ordinary concerns for the whims of the rich and famous.

In terms of fame or stardom--I really just wanted my book to sell.

But your comments fascinate me, considering the Tarot readings I've had recently (my book deals with some events which may very well come to pass in America in the reasonably near future).

Good advice--especially about money (I'm a Taurus, and we have that pesky hedonist streak).

4) Keep studying and reading. I've often said that if I ever win the lottery, I would buy a ton of books (especially metaphysical) and read all day long. The demands of fame can strip that away and substitute the desire for more learning with a feeling that one is already a guru and don't need to learn anymore........;

7. one of the things the star represents is our highest hopes

and aspirations. so in your case, wanting your book to sell, the star could be a good indication of that.

6. KInd of hard to say without context. However, when

one card keeps turning up, do a reading on that card as the significator and see if that clears up what it means. Ask the star to reveal its purpose.

Aquarius. It's basically the next step after Awakening (The Tower or Mars).
