Please pray for my son

Last night my son Michael tried to commit suicide. I don't believe he was really trying to die because of the way he tried to hang. His feet were still on the floor. But he is obviously crying out for help. I had him on Lexapro, Seroquel and Ativan because the doctor thinks he may be bipolar. My son has this bad habit of taking all of his medication and putting them all in one bottle (for convenience). My husband found the bottle on his dresser and thought they were narcotics and flushed them down the toilet. Now I have a severely depressed son with no meds. Please pray for him. I don't know what to do.

TALK to him, immediately; explain 'accident' that resulted in 'loss' of his meds, that you and husb are sorry, and will replace meds ASAP.

And talk to his doc about 'talk' therapy in addition to meds.

Discuss with pharmacist and doc, if refilling immediately is a problem.

3. Can you get him to the doctor?

I'm pretty sure that some of those meds are not to be suddenly stopped. You have to taper off. It could put him in quite a spin.

4. Adding prayers and recommendation to get refills...

Tapering is so important with some of the meds, as others have said. That feels like the priority -- to get him stabilized emotionally and physically - so you can then move toward the root cause of the imbalance and work toward healing.

6. Call the pharmacy ASAP

Ask them to contact the prescribing doctor to authorize at least a short-term refill, or full refills if that's possible.

My son went to the doctor yesterday and got his meds replaced. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.
