Astrologers: A Second Saturn Return

Question: How long does a Saturn Return last, and any suggestions as to where I might find 2nd Saturn Return info? Thanks.

1. Depends.

Transiting Saturn can swing right by your natal Saturn relatively quickly, or it can pass over it, turn around (what's called going stationary retrograde), retrograde over it, turn around (i.e., go stationary direct), and pass over it again for the third time, which can draw the process out for months. Or Saturn can go stationary retrograde or stationary direct right on top of your natal Saturn, which tends to draw the process out a bit.

A good book is Lizz Greene's Saturn: A New Look at an Old Devil, which you should be able to find online or at better esoteric bookshops.

Upthread I made a mistake; it's Liz Greene, not Lizz. And I looked at that book last night, and it probably isn't what you're looking for. Then I looked through my library, and I found Saturn in Transit: Boundaries of Mind, Body and Soul by Erin Sullivan, which is most likely precisely what you're looking for. It's published by Arkana, and I think Sullivan has her own website (http://www.erinsullivan.com), so you can look there. Good luck. I'll be undergoing that transit in a few years, myself.

I've been busy looking up Pluto opposite my midheaven and square my ascendant, which hits for the first time in January. My experience with the so-called dreaded transits is not to fear them, but to try to gain a little understanding so when they hit you aren't knocked completely unawares.

2. One complete Saturn cycle takes about 29 1/2 years,

With respect to the birth chart, the first Saturn return happens at about 29 1/2 years of age, the second Saturn return happens at about 2 times 29 1/2 years, or 59 years.

One school of thought is that a Saturn return lasts for the full length of the cycle it initiates.

I think you will find little bits and pieces about Saturn spewed through various astrology texts, most general texts mention it to one degree or another.
