Forgiveness, comfort and solace from a Sufi saint.
"Use your wisdom. Don't waste your intelligence." Bawa Muhaiyaddeen, from Ceylon. I visited him when he was living in Philadelphia. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RcSG39EIjMs

2. You're welcome, Dream. It is. It needs to be said.
Voice of reason and all that.

4. I'm wondering now if I need to forgive AT&T
for their crappy phone service (I'm still waiting on it to download, many minutes later...) ;)

I've been thinking about Sufism all day, and wondering if anyone had thought of them with regards to this day. I suspect very few. If only the rest of the uninformed knew about Sufism :D

5. Yes, I've been thinking of Sufism all day.

I've had some amazing Sufi friends this lifetime. I have been so blessed to have them as friends.

Most people don't even know what Sufism is. :(

7. The only Sufi I've ever known was on this board:
ayeshahaqqiqa

I haven't seen her around in ages, and miss her posts on the subject.

If I knew more Rumi poems, I'd post some to the various September 11th threads. They could use an injection of Love :)

11. What has happened to ayeshahaqqiqa?
I've wondered about her for a while now. Miss her wisdom.

13. It seems like she left DU
but I'm not certain about that. I know she joined the alternate site, but haven't seen her post much over there, either.

Someone's bound to have contact with her offsite...

17. I found this site on Facebook. I think that you'd have to have a Facebook account to see it.
http://www.facebook.com/notes.php?id=695920388

If you don't have a Facebook account, maybe someone else might see this and check it out.

Here are a few things from there. Each has an amazing work of art associated with it. There are lots of Rumi poems, but there are other esoteric poems/quotations as well.

A baby pigeon stands on the edge of a nest all day.
Then he hears a whistle, Come to me.
How could he not fly toward that?
Wings tear through the body’s robe when
a letter arrives that says,

“You’ve flapped and fluttered against limits
long enough.
You’ve been a bird without wings
in a house without doors or windows.
Compassion builds a door.
Restlessness cuts a key.
Ask. Step off into air like a baby pigeon.
Strut proudly into sunlight,
not looking back.
Take sips of this pure wine being poured.
Don’t mind that you’ve been given a dirty cup.”

~Rumi

I have come into this world to see this:
the sword drop from men's hands
even at the height of
their arc
of rage
because we have finally realized
there is just one flesh
we can wound.

~Hafiz

He breathes into my ear until my soul takes on His fragrance.
He is the soul of my soul. How can I escape?
But why would any soul in this world want to escape
from the Beloved?

~Rumi

Love is a tree with branches reaching into eternity
and roots set deep in eternity, and no trunk!
Have you seen it?

~Rumi

:D

12. With the way the following poem is written,
I have to wonder if it isn't from Hafiz

Someone Should Start Laughing

I have a thousand brilliant lies
For the question:

How are you?

I have a thousand brilliant lies
For the question:

What is God?

If you think that the Truth can be known
From words,

If you think that the Sun and the Ocean

Can pass through that tiny opening Called the mouth,

O someone should start laughing!
Someone should start wildly Laughing –Now!
