It really is an honor just to be nominated - even if only in a dream
I had an odd dream last night. It starts with my Mother waking me up to tell me I was nominated for either best actress or best supporting actress award. She was so flustered she couldn't remember what the letter said whether it was a golden globe or oscar. Now I have never acted nor ever even dreamed (day or dream-dreamed) of acting. My sister and her husband are there tho they live several states away. Her husband is telling me how he was invited to a prestigious cooking school with some famous master chef who personally asked him to come to the school for a year full scholarship - but that he won't accept it. My sister in the dream is totally mute just sitting or standing next to her spouse. In my dream I am groggy but thrilled to have my work recognized and wondering wtf was with my brother in law waking me up to tell me this when we aren't close so why the heck would I care that he wasn't taking such a divine opportunity when in the dream he really really wanted to. Not being close I wouldn't have felt the family or friendship right to tell someone I cared about that they were being boneheaded. In real life I am not aware of him having any deep interest or amazing skills in cooking besides once in a while trying something he saw on the food channel. Next in my dream my Mom is frantically looking throughout the house for my birth certificate so I can fly across the country and go to the awards show. She is beside herself and lost the nomination letter to boot so I still don't know what I was nominated for but I am not worried. I am just thrilled and touched that my peers thought I was worthy of the nomination. Funny thing is that in my dream I can't remember what the heck I acted in that got me nominated which only puzzled me a little and didn't worry me at all while most of my mind was busy basking in the knowledge that people I respected thought I had done wonderful work.

oh btw if it means anything this dream was actually set in my own home although room shape and layout would twist and warp in weird ways at times like they often do in my dreams.

1. Wow, you guys are having some freaky dreams!

:hi: Shallah.

I don't have any thoughts on interpretation but thoroughly enjoyed reading about your dream. :)

I just wanted to say that I liked the fact that you weren't concerned about the details (what the award was for) but were instead focused on "basking in the knowledge that people I respected thought I had done wonderful work."

So often our dreams are focused on the detail of what we've forgotten, what we couldn't find; the typical high school test or performance scenario dream in which we feel completely unprepared.

Your dream focused on what was important...the essence of the award.

I find that very, very special.

(FWIW, your dream is true; we certainly respect you tremendously for your wisdom and the knowledge you share, and simply love who you are.)

2. I agree with OGR that most dreams are
about our emotional state. Especially when we lose the details upon waking, how we feel during the dream is important. I think this dream is about acceptance, recognition, appreciation of self that comes from those around us and you've certainly got that around here :)

5. Most of my dreams are fear anxiety dreams
I woke up from a more usual for me dream - creepy bad things happening. somehow I am an astronaut that had problems on a previous mission. Part of the craft jettisoned so most of the crew landed irretrievably on the moon. it was some sort of craft similar to the moon landing things only roomier, not a shuttle or similar. I, or maybe I was just watching the video from the main part of the craft - not sure, makes it back to earth. Later I am part of a large crew landing on the moon to find out what happened. we find the suits of the guys who landed but they are empty but for a little dust. and somehow the moon suddenly has oxygen and we can take off our helmets. we are looking for the remains of the missing crewmen when we find midden tunnels under some boxes. Even with oxygen there is no way the crewmen survived with only a few days of food on the craft. we are all suspicious and wonder if there is some sort of alien menace. some of us are getting our nerve up to go exploring in one of the craters which has strange tunnels in it and I had the feeling of being watched and that we were about to be pounced on when I woke up. Now THAT is a more normal dream for me. menacing inhuman monsters and clothing that vanishes in public so I have to hide in embarrassment in a bathroom stall and then the bathroom stall walls start shrinking down to nothing and suddenly it is the MENS room with men in it and just before I can manage to die of embarrassment I wake up.

I don't know what I won in the dream but the feeling of accomplishment is still with me even after the lunar dream. Don't know if it is st. john's wort effecting the dreams or something else but gee is it a nice change from the usual dream fair of monsters, lost objects, and embarrassment dreams.

Thank you for the friendship and respect  I can't thank you and everyone here enough for your kindness and support in the prayer threads and even with weird dreams!

Man, your dreams would make a good story - I wanted more! I mean what would have happened, if you were to write the scenario out in your waking state - 3rd person? Did you survive the menace? Was it an evil? I just wonder what would happen if you let the story unfolded, as you choose it. Even with the first one - what did you win? Did you get to the award ceremony or did you send a televised acceptance speech? What did you wear if you did? Was there an after party :)

Inquiring minds want to know :) You're a good writer and sure know how to hold the suspense!

4. Aw.

this really means a lot to me. I can find the words to say it.

it really was an unusual dream as most are garden variety fear dreams venting anxiety where I am out and aout and clothing starts vanishing, I can't find things or various icky scary things are chasing me. To have a happy dream where the people around me are acting crazy and I am just enjoying that I voted to win that nomination is unusual. I woke up from it still feeling like I really had won something tho I still don't know what. I still had the warm happy feeling that Yay! I did something really really good. Maybe it is just the st. john's wort I am taking for a week or maybe my guides were trying convey that I am doing a better job of my life or current situations - in other words acting like the best me I can manage to be no matter what manure hits the oscillating blades of life - in any case it is nice to feel.

3. Do you feel like you have to put on a "front", Shallah?
Edited on Tue Sep-14-10 07:55 AM by MorningGlow
I mean, in real life, do you ever feel like you have to pretend to be someone you're not, or even just hide your feelings and act the way your family and friends expect you to act, instead of the way you really want to be? That could be the acting thing. And apparently you're doing it well, and those around you appreciate your efforts.

I got the sense that your BIL's cooking thing was an attempt to steal your thunder. Instead of congratulating you on your award, he had to trump you with something that HE got.
Oh--and welcome to the "weird dream of the week" club! :hi:

6. not really
I never was good at faking and figured I might as well be me and not have to deal with the effort and confusion. I only put up a front when it comes to surface pleasantries like when someone asks how are you. Few people really want to know if someone else is feeling rotten so I say I am fine. yep f-ed up, insecure, neurotic and irrationals Yep I am FINE alright

i am starting to wonder if the prize in the dream is maybe a message from my guides that I am not mucking things up as bad as I thought. Maybe I really am doing the best that I can with situations so the award is for being the best me I am capable of at that time.

I think my bil represents someone else in my life or the genetic archetype of that sort of thunder stealing person, the one who can't stand another person getting something nice and has to horn in to make sure everyone knows how important they are because in real life he is nothing like that. I figure my subconscious just used him to play the part because it was easier to use his image than to make someone up.
